I was searching for vegan Spätzle yesterday (homemade German noodles, the original recipe contains a lot of eggs), and I came upon the following German vegan website. I know most of you probably do not speak or read German, but I wanted to share the website anyway, because it contains a lot of interesting looking recipes.http://www.veganwelt.de/
Thanks, Gundula. At some point I'll post some websites. I have a long list of them!
All members feel free to post your favorite websites. There are hundreds, if not thousands of them, with many, many thousands of recipes.
I have not been to/used all of these, but this is a list I've been compiling. A few of them are sites by cookbook authors.VegNews (http://www.vegnews.com/web/home.do) is my favorite magazine, and a great support for vegans and those interested in veganism. This is their lunch blog showing what they eat:
http://cafevegnews.blogspot.com/
And here, in no particular order, are a few websites with vegan recipes:
http://vegancrunk.blogspot.com/ (This first one, I’ve heard, is a good blog and also has an extensive list of other vegan cooking blogs in the blogroll)
http://www.meettheshannons.net/p/bett... (This is the Betty Crocker project; they are veganizing every recipe in the 1950 Betty Crocker cookbook!)

I'm sure I'll come back here later to add more, but here's one I found today.http://mouthwateringvegan.com/

I loved 101cookbooks.com when I was vegetarian. I plan on revisiting to see about veganizing some of them now that I'm trying vegan.
Selah has just mentioned this great website on another thread so I thought I would add it here as well. You can create your own meatloaf recipe by plugging in a bunch of ingredients from a list of choices.

I used to love meat loaf too. I've never made a vegan one although I do make lots of different types of veggie and bean burgers. I'm going to give this a try.

I just put a bookmark for that website, I need to try it out.
Lee, I don't like any that remind me of actual meat. But I used to make one with soybeans (the actual beans) and one with lentils and brown rice. Both were amazingly good. And I've tasted plenty grain, bean, and veggie based ones, with spices of course, that have been delicious.
I think vegan "meatloaf" is something I might be able to get my daughter to eat if it's not too heavily spiced.
Lee wrote: "I think vegan "meatloaf" is something I might be able to get my daughter to eat if it's not too heavily spiced."It's definitely worth a try. Easy to make, makes good leftovers, etc.
I've frozen slices after baking for quick sandwich fillings, quick meals, etc. It works like a champ for me, since I live alone and don't like to make large amounts of anything in case it doesn't make me crave it.
Selah, That's such a good idea. Freezer leftovers. When they're in the fridge they're too easy to keep eating. I live alone too and portion control is an issue for me. I try to make just one or two servings of what I make, but freezing individual portions would certainly save time!
I made one of the magical veggie dinner loaves using the program here:
http://www.veganlunchbox.com/loaf_stu...
It was a great success! Thanks for letting us know about this Selah.

Lee, And your combination looks so delicious!:

Thanks from me also, Selah! I want to try some of these, and re my pot luck question, I think one of these loaves could work really well to bring to a vegan pot luck gathering.
ONE of the many things *I* like about the magical loaf recipe is that you can use it to finish up tiny portions of stuff from the pantry so as to avoid waste. And Lee, your loaf on your blog looks wonderful!
Thanks Selah! I actually made another one with slightly different ingredients (using leftover rice) and it turned out just as tasty. I'm in love with the magical loaf!
one of my dear friends - Sinead http://kitchendancing.blogspot.com/20...Her cooking is to be admired like art, as is she.

Hi thereJust wanted to post my website: http://www.angstafford.com I have written a Vegan cookbook names Wild Vegan and am writing a children's cookbook now. There are sample recipes on my site.
all the best.
Thanks Angela! How exciting for you. I saw Lisa's review of your book and it looks very interesting.
This is my blog, it doesn't have much on there at the moment but I'll be adding more recipes soon: http://triumphofthelentilblog.wordpre...Also this has a few recipes from my cookbook: http://triumphofthelentil.wordpress.c...
Hey is vegnews just an online mag now? I could have swore I saw it in whole foods once. Now I can't fins it anywhere
Farrah wrote: "Hey is vegnews just an online mag now? I could have swore I saw it in whole foods once. Now I can't fins it anywhere"It comes out as a 6 times a year magazine. I've been subscribing since their third issue. I got their second issue for free at a World Vegetarian Day fair in San Francisco:
http://vegnews.com/web/home.do
http://vegnews.com/web/pages/page.do?...
You can subscribe, and it's in most of my local health food stores and some bookstores by the issue.
ETA: It's the only publication I read every word of, cover to cover, ads included.
I like this website provided via the Food Empowerment Project, which gives a bunch of veganized Mexican recipes:http://veganmexicanfood.com/
I just watched her tv show Saturday (2nd to last of the season) and just joined the Jazzy Vegetarian facebook group. Here are some of her vegan holiday recipes:
http://www.pbs.org/food/features/holi...
The dishes she made on her tv show all looked amazing: velvety carrot soup, stuffed peppers (with quinoa, black beans, onion, garlic, etc. etc.), kale with sunflower seeds, etc., and a chocolate pudding (which had a fancier name and looked so delicious), and she made them all look doable.
I have seen 2 episodes of the Jazzy Vegetarian. One was a brunch episode. She ( don't know the host's name) made a french toast that looked really good. She said that she experimented with different ways to make french toast until she came up with this one. She used a cashew cream to soak the bread in.The other episode I saw was an Eco Picnic theme. The dishes all looked good and easy. So far I have liked what I have seen of the program.
Nettie, Thanks. Everybody, it was Nettie who told me about The Jazzy Vegetarian tv program. I have this week's show/the season finale set to tape and hope to see other episodes. They all look good.
Vegnews rocks! I've been subscribing to vegnews for a couple years now, but I'm thinking of going treeless next year. Does anyone here use their digital version? I'm wondering what file type it is. I would want to be able to tranfer it to some sort of ereader on my ipad, not just read it in a browser.
Jayme, I read issue 2 as a freebie from a World Vegetarian Day festival. I've subscribed since issue 3. I'm not interested in the digital version, and have never seen it, because I have a hard time reading lengthy things on the computer. And I like the ads. I keep mine but one advantage of the paper editions is that when you're through with them you can leave them in doctors' offices, hospital waiting rooms, free boxes at bookstores, etc. etc. etc.
Oh, I love getting my paper editions. I struggled with the decision to maybe go paperless. Mostly it's a money thing. It costs me $40 instead of $20 just for the privilege of living in Canada. If I go paperless there's no shipping fee!
Jayme, Yes, the postage to Canada is crazy expensive. I'll be really curious about what you/any others think of the online editions. I hope they're identical and easy to read.
I noticed that VegNews is on Zinio for $19.99/6 issues. I don't have a subscription, but my subscription to Analog Science Fiction and Fact via Zinio looks just like a paper version, but with a hyperlinked table of contents. You can double tap to zoom in on the text (which is handy for a fiction magazine with mostly text). The advantage of Zinio is that you can read via a web browser as well as on the iPhone/iPad/Android.I posted this over on Comfort Reads Daily Chat, but I thought I'd share here too, Veganize It...Don't Criticize It,
http://jennshaggy.blogspot.com/
which has some wonderful recipes (and great photos). She also has a cookbook (which I haven't picked up yet, but plan to).
Thanks, Tim. That does look like such an interesting website. I like that there are links to so many related sites.Don, I subscribe to the paper edition of VegNews just as Don does. I got the 2nd issue as a freebie at a World Vegetarian Day festival and have been a subscriber since the 3rd issue. The only issue I've never read is the 1st issue. It's turned from a relatively low budget newspaper format to a big, glossy, professional magazine. It's my favorite publication, the only one I usually read cover to cover, ads included.

Each year ApartmentTherapy.com has awards for various types of blogs - and three of the awards are for food blogs. I'm HORRIFIED to find all the current top vote getters to be paleo web sites - all that meat - yuck - and there are few vegan sites. They are still accepting nominations - you might want to nominate vegan sites, and then all go and vote! I'm guessing that there was an organized paleo movement to get those site ranked high.
You can get to the site here.
I don't know the best vegan web sites, but if you all add them, I'll go vote for them.
Thanks, Leslie. Oh, there are hundreds if not thousands of vegan ones. More representation would be wonderful.
ble.at/recipes! You can search by ingredients, course, cuisine and diet, for example gluten-free, raw, diabetic and so on :)

Thanks, Don. It looks great. I hope it's very successful for them.
