message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

I've never tried coffee flavored cheesecake. I think I should. I do like cheesecake, but I think I like tiramisu better.

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

I think Starbucks makes the best coffee.

I haven't had much Starbucks coffee for two reasons:
1 We don't have a Starbucks in my stupid little town.
2 They openly supported abortion, which I am against in every way.

Oh my! I didn't know they supported abortion, but I'm not going to stop drinking their coffee anytime soon.

((gah!!! now I must go! bye))

Hi!

message 24: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (cal506) Hi. Have you read Bleak House?

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

Part of it. I'm on chapter ten. Does anything happen?

message 26: by Connor (new)

Connor Kinkade (connork) | 226 comments Mod
I think I'm on chapter 10 as well.

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

:) It's like, really good even though nothing exciting happens.

There's a murder but not til chapter 48 or 49. Still, I really liked the book. I find Esther a little too nice, especially the fawning over her friend. But I guess it's just a cultural thing.

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

A MURDER?

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

Awesome!

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

lol.
I'm Chapter...XXXIX.
(what is it?)

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

39

message 33: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (cal506) One of the things I enjoy about Dickens is the names he gives his characters and the way he pokes fun at them that way. Love Mrs. Jellyby, Mr. Krook. My favorite was Mr. Murdstone. But then there's Uriah Heep, too.

message 34: by Connor (new)

Connor Kinkade (connork) | 226 comments Mod
Yeah! The names are so weird! I like the names too. :)

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

Mrs. Jellyby is weird. Who would name their son Peepy?

message 36: by Connor (new)

Connor Kinkade (connork) | 226 comments Mod
Mrs. Jellyby would.

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

obviously. Who would MARRY Mrs. Jellyby?

message 38: by Connor (new)

Connor Kinkade (connork) | 226 comments Mod
Mr. Jellyby.

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

:D

message 40: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (cal506) Mrs. Jellyby should probably have remained single and virginal, i.e. Not been a mother. But she's a saint compaired to that snake, Mr. Skimpole!

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

Is he the murderer? He's weird.

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

I feel sorry for Caddy. (view spoiler)

Re Mr. Skimpole (view spoiler)

message 44: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh.

message 45: by [deleted user] (new)

Ok I'm lost.....I obviously need to read Bleak House.

message 46: by [deleted user] (new)

You do! Its a good book! You joined this group!!! :D

message 47: by [deleted user] (new)

Haha you have a point!

message 48: by [deleted user] (new)

:P

message 49: by [deleted user] (new)

I found out why I'm so far behind in all of my books; I'm too busy being on goodreads! I'm addicted!

message 50: by [deleted user] (new)
