Always happy to enable a reading habit. There's a lot of good authors on the site. And V, I'll have to check out bibliomania... thanks for the tip! :)

Why did I spend a whole 4 and 1/2 days off goodreads?
Did I mess up the story by putting in a comment? I'm sorry; should I have made the comment here instead?
Emily wrote: "Um, how bout now?"Speaking of books and schedules, has anyone read the April book, Bleak House?
I am about....... one hundred pages from the end. But I'm reading it on my school's schedule, so I won't be done with it till the end of May. =P I WILL finish it though.
You should beg your teacher to change the schedule!
Kirsten wrote: "She probably won't. =P But maybe it's worth a try. ^^"Kirsten, you have to read according to someone else's schedule? Like they tell you how many pages you can read?
It's read aloud--that's why. If I wanted, I could get it from the library and read what I wanted. I'm not STUCK on the schedule. I just prefer to read it on schedule because then I have my class (of five people xD) to discuss with. =)
Last time I got our teacher to change the schedule, everybody was mad at me because they had less time to read the book in. }:-)
Emily wrote: "Serve them right!"Actually, it sounds a bit like serial reading; you can only read what's published in the current edition of whatever publication.
My teacher usually says something like:
"If you haven't read Chapter 5 yet, read it. If you have, THEN DO THE WORKSHEET! *exhales* Now work."
So she doesn't care if you read the whole book before the deadline. She just wants those boring worksheets we do for every chapter.

Sounds like a class in which reading is not a pleasure, to say the least. Though, I think that the one thing I learned in college was how to read and some of the courses were pretty dry.
That's why I'm just gonna join the military. Actually I'll do college (ROTC) then the military as an officer... or I'll try anyway. If I can't do ROTC, I'll enlist and do college later unless I retire from the military.

And thinking of re-upping to go to grad school. The education benefits are great if you're ok with the military. And the navy is good. You get to sail on boats. I think in the army you have to walk a lot.
Connor wrote: "That's good! What rank is he?"Some kind of Lt. But, FYI, when he is at sea, there's no time to read. The duty is like, 24/7.
My brother did Navy ROTC. He's taking college courses in his spare time and sloooowly racking up credits. I think he wants to make a career out of it. Haha... but he's never been assigned to a boat yet. So far he's only been on a joint army navy base on the coast. ;-)
I might stick with Army or Airforce. I have considered the Navy, but I'm not sure. If I have to recruit it would be Airforce or Navy and I'd take out the Army.... maybe.

Nice! I'd like to make a career out of the military, but I might end up going in and hating it. Who knows?

You could get into some Junior ROTC program. My other brother (xD) is doing a junior navy program right now and he really likes it. He's been up in the mountains, done color guard for lacrosse, football, and baseball games, and even flown a private jet. ;-) It might be worth looking into. I would suggest NOT doing the Navy right now, though, if you want to make a career out of it. My oldest brother, like I said, is enlisted in the Navy and he says that the ranks are glutted. They're so full that the Navy is booting people out for anything they can get away with. =P
Um... on the topic of this thread... xD I wanted to suggest that we change the reading schedules around a bit. I thought it might be worth choosing a book for one or two months instead of just giving one month for it. It might encourage people to pick up the books if they feel like they have lots of time to finish them.
The problem is, I our school doesn't offer a junior or senior ROTC program. I have to Go to The University of Wyoming to go into an ROTC program. :/
I was talking of the other part of the comment
Oh....... I skipped the last part because she dropped of the military subject.
I think that's a good idea too. I think I'll do that then.
