Revelation Space discussion

Anyone able to recommend some authors similar to Reynolds in either style or subject matter as a way to branch out?

I would suggest Peter F. Hamilton as a great substitute. His books have a slightly different feel to them. They have a dark side to the universe, but also a bright side, as opposed to Reynolds more dark, scary universe spheres he writes in.

Also Ian Banks is a good one to check out. He has the Culture series which has a bunch of neat stories and the guy has quite an imagination.

You can't go wrong with either of those two authors, especially if you like U.K. syfy writers.

Neal Asher is similar and very readable - well that's based on my mate's opinion and the one book I've read of his so far :-)

I agree that Peter F. Hamilton is similar - not sure who I prefer out of the two to be honest - they're both awesome writers.
