Alex Sinclair Hello everyone, please introduce yourself and tell us a little about who you are. Do you write? What do you like to read? What are your hobbies? And where in the world are you from?

Mysti Parker | 51 comments I'm Mysti Parker. I'm a full time wife and mom of three kids. I write fantasy romance, currently working on a series based in the world of Tallenmere. Just published the first one--A Ranger's Tale. My favorite books are whatever I have time to read nowadays :)

And I hail from Kentucky in the USA. Thanks for having me!

message 3: by Alex (new)

Alex Sinclair Hey Mysti, thanks for joining the forum. What got you into writing fantasy romance? Is that a genre you have always loved? Feel free to post an excerpt and link to A Ranger's Tale in the excerpt section. The forum is going to be having an influx of members soon and this will be a good place to tell people about your books.

Alex Sinclair Hi Kay & Missy,
Welcome to the group. Please feel free to post excerpts and any reviews to your books. Congratulations to you both with your upcoming releases. Are you feeling excited or nervous? Or perhaps a little bit of both?

message 7: by Missy (new)

Missy Martine (missymartine) | 88 comments I'm excited, Alex. Each day closer to the 1st leaves me more and more nervous. This book is a little bit different from my others, and they did really well, plus this is a new publisher. It's like the first time all over again!

Missy

Hi Alex, I'm Jean. I have one contemporary romance out, an ebook from Astraea Press called, "Sunny Days, Moonlit Nights". I have a series to be published by Secret Cravings in a couple of months. The first two books will be, "Now and Forever 1, a Love Story" and the second will be "Now and Forever 2, the Book of Danny". I live in New York City with my family and my rescued pug, Homer.

message 9: by Alex (new)

Alex Sinclair Hey Missy, I can totally relate to being excited about the release, but nervous as it draws closer. I thought I had become a true professional with my last release. I wasn't nervous. I was happy with the final product. And then the day before the release it hit me! A nervous nuclear explosion, lol. Did you move to a new publisher because this book is a bit different? And what makes this book different from the others you have done?

message 10: by Alex (new)

Alex Sinclair Hey Jean, glad you joined us here on the forum. You should post some excerpts of your books. How many books do you plan to do in the Now and Forever series?

Alex wrote: "Hey Jean, glad you joined us here on the forum. You should post some excerpts of your books. How many books do you plan to do in the Now and Forever series?"

I plan to do four. #3 will be Blind Love and #4 will be The Renovated Heart. I'd love to post an excerpt. Long or short? I have a short excerpt from Six Sentence Sunday. Would that work? Do I send it to you?

message 12: by Alex (new)

Alex Sinclair Hey Jean, excerpts can be as long as the forum allows. I think word count is like 12,000 words, lol, so plenty of room. At the bottom of the forum is a section marked excerpts just post it in there. Although they have to be PG because goodreads might get funny with us.

message 13: by Jean (new)

Jean (jeanjay) | 249 comments Mod
Thanks, Alex. The book is PG, so no worries. I think I'll post the first two chapters as chapter 2 ends with a teaser.

message 14: by Jean (new)

Jean (jeanjay) | 249 comments Mod
Posted it, I think. Hope I did it right. Thanks for this opportunity, Alex.

message 15: by Jean (new)

Jean (jeanjay) | 249 comments Mod
Couldn't get through Chapter 2 posted as it only allows 12,000 characters, not words. That's okay. This is enough.

message 16: by Alex (new)

Alex Sinclair Yeah, I loved the excerpt. I am going to be posting a few more over the next week for some of my other books and maybe a sneak peak of my erotic suspense novel, Five Days Notice, just to see what everyone thinks.

message 17: by Jean (new)

Jean (jeanjay) | 249 comments Mod
I look forward to it. A good excerpt is like a taste of fine chocolate or wine,it makes you want more.

Lady (jll1) Hello to all here!!! My name is Jaime, on this site I'm known as Lady J. I love reading all kinds of books and talking about what I've read.

message 22: by Alex (new)

Alex Sinclair Thank you Francis.

Welcome to the group Lady J, you love reading all kinds of books? Do you have a favourite genre you lean more towards? Have you read anything good as of late? We are always open to book recommendations. The last few books I have read were very disappointing.

message 23: by Lady (new)

Lady (jll1) Thank you, for the warm welcome! Right now, I'm on an urban fiction kick. I'm currently reading White Lines by Tracy Brown.

Last month, I read I Beat The Odds by Michael Oher and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I highly recommend.

message 24: by Jean (new)

Jean (jeanjay) | 249 comments Mod
Loved Michael Oher in "The Blind Side" also liked to watch him play football (American style) for Baltimore.

message 25: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Hello,

My name is Barbara
I am a reader and reviewer.
I love urban fiction.
I just finished reading Black Widow and The Sandman by LL Reaper, and I loved it ( 5 stars ). I mostly will read anything except for horror mystery books. I usually read 10 to 12 books a month. I love book challenges

message 26: by Jean (new)

Jean (jeanjay) | 249 comments Mod
Barbara, do you read romance?

message 27: by Lady (new)

Lady (jll1) Jean wrote: "Loved Michael Oher in "The Blind Side" also liked to watch him play football (American style) for Baltimore."

I Beat The Odds is by Michael Oher, himself. Basically it's his own story in his own words. Whereas, The Blind Side is by someone else.

Jean (jeanjay) | 249 comments Mod
Does it differ a lot from the movie?

message 29: by Lady (new)

Lady (jll1) Jean wrote: "Does it differ a lot from the movie?"

Yes, he even discusses his thoughts about the book and movie.

message 30: by Jean (new)

Jean (jeanjay) | 249 comments Mod
Sounds like I should read it. His story is incredible.

message 31: by Alex (new)

Alex Sinclair Hi Barbara, welcome to the group. You read 10-12 books a month!!! Don't think I read that many a year, lol. I wish I could do that though, but I am the slowest reader in the world. Then again the last few novels I have picked up really let me down and I just couldn't get into them.

message 32: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 5 comments Hi my name is Sharon and like the rest of you I write, my first book is a little black dress romance and I am currently searching for an Agent/Publisher for the same. I have almost completed my second book a thriller with a twist it gets a bit steamy in places, where that idea came from I can't say, other than it seemed like a good idea at the time!

I'm a widow and I live in Brittany, France.

Hi, Sharon, nice to meet you!

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 5 comments Jean wrote: "Hi, Sharon, nice to meet you!"

Hi Jean, nice to meet you too, I went out to the beach for the day yesterday with my daughter. I can't believe its only the beginning of April and we are already into the beach season!

Bought some Clams (well at least I think that's what they are 'palourdes' in French) I am going to make a sauce and serve them with pasta tonight!

Weird spring weather though it gave me time to read my book, I picked it up in a swap never heard of the author before Greg Iles, Blood Red, another forensic expert murder book along the lines of Kathy Reichs even down to the alcoholic forensic expert though this one is into dental forensics. I'll let you know my opinion in a couple of days.

I sometimes wished I didn't read so quickly because English novels are like gold dust here, there is only one supermarket with a good selection.

A friend in Normandy said she buys her books as a mystery box, about 50 books in each box but she forgot to tell me who sells them, is anyone able to help me out with a name or http address?

message 35: by Alex (new)

Alex Sinclair Hi Sharon, welcome to the group. Please feel free to post some excerpts of you books and tell us about it. How long have you been looking for a publisher/agent?

message 36: by Melinda (new)

Melinda Clayton (goodreadscommelinda_clayton) Hi Alex, I found you here through a post you made on Amazon inviting readers to post to your blog for the April Book of the Month. Thanks so much for that, and for this. "Appalachian Justice" is my first novel, and I'm currently working on my second.

I'll be back later to explore - right now it's time to feed the kids. :-)

Melinda

message 37: by Alex (new)

Alex Sinclair Hi Melinda, I am really glad you found us. Please feel free to post excerpts and reviews for your book. The site is here to showcase your work. What is your second novel about?

message 38: by Melinda (new)

Melinda Clayton (goodreadscommelinda_clayton) Thanks, Alex! It feels really weird to be invited to post excerpts...not my usual experience!

The second is a sort-of sequel to the first, following up with some of the main characters but fitting more into a mystery genre.

You've invited all of us to post, but what about you? How many novels do you have out there? What are they? And thanks again for your kindness.

Melinda

message 39: by Alex (new)

Alex Sinclair Hi Melinda, it can be a bit odd being asked to post excerpts, but it is why I created the group. I wanted to give people a platform to post excerpts, trailers, reviews and talk books. The group is still very young and still finding our feet, but we are starting to move in the right direction. You can find reviews, trailers and excerpts posted by other authors about half way down the forum.

I currently have... five books out. Two through my publisher and three I have put out myself. I have a new release with my publisher next month and about five more books coming over the next year or so, lol. My favourite one would be, Under The Midnight Sky, which is a short historical romance novella that refused to go away until it was written, lol.

message 47: by Alex (new)

Alex Sinclair Wow that is a really wide variety of different types of book projects. I found poetry absolutely impossible to write. Such a beautiful art and I am rubbish at it, lol.

message 48: by Therese (new)

Therese Gilardi | 58 comments i used to look at poetry the same way. a little over two years ago i moved from france to southern california - part of my intent was to become part of an amazing writers' collective in L.A. that was organized by a very gifted poet. i began to write poetry, and much to my surprise others began to like what i wrote. believe me no one was more surprised when i began to have poetry accepted in poetry journals. it's funny, isn't it, that as writers we tend to concentrate in one or two little fields (short fiction or novel, etc). i bet your work is not the rubbish you believe it to be.

message 49: by Alex (new)

Alex Sinclair That is a pretty big move from France to the U.S. It is an amazing feeling when people have such a positive interest in what you write. And my poetry was very rubbish, perhaps the worst, the police deemed it so rubbish that I was banned from writing it by the law... that last part may not be true, lol.
