Professor Clarity Maddox stumbled into the classroom and plopped herself into the chair behind her desk. "The Great Beyond has led me here..." she mumbled, quietly as to herself, but loud enough so the class could hear. "But I have not yet been informed of the reason..." she looked up and grinned. "Oh, yes, the Great Beyond didn't want me to be late for my first class!" Maddox looked up gratefully. "Thank you," she said, her face towards the ceiling. Clarity Maddox was a rather strange teacher, and not just because she belived that the "great beyond" led her to places, but also her appearance. It matched her personality perfectly. Her hair was the color of dead grass, and it was cropped short and not quite even, as if she had hacked it off herself with a pair hedge clippers in the dark. Her eyes were light green, and never quite in focus. Maddox didn't have the best fashion sense, either, for she tended to wear whatever she thought that the "Great Beyond" told her to put on in the morning. Today, she was wearing dark purple muggle swimming trunks that were at least three sizes too big, hoisted up by thick orange suspenders with fairies embriodered on them. under the suspenders, she wore a simple light blue tee shirt, with a dark denim jacket. As for her feet, she just wore short pink ankle socks.
And this was just one of her good days.
Pax Olympia entered the classroom. "How's it going, Clarity?" she asked. "Ready for your first day?"
"Oh, yes," Maddox responded. "But The Great Beyond just informed me that I will have to leave the class at a certain point for reasons unknown..."
"So, what are you going to tell the students to do at that point?" Pax asked, testing Clarity's teaching skills.
"Hmm...." thought Clarity. She closed her eyes. "Wait, wait... The Great Beyond just informed me that they must come with me... to the astronomy tower... to look at Venus during the day! Yes, we will go there."
"OK," said Pax, making a mental note to ask the students what they learned from staring at a planet during the day.
