#phdchat discussion

I'm new here. Gotta figure out stuff.

Me too. I know the goal is to share books relevant to #phdchat, but how do I do that? Do we have to set up our profile? I'm sure we'll figure it out.

I see an event area too...could be used for conferences? Hmmmmm

added a book. what's cool is that I can set up a discussion folder for the book as well! will do so once the need arises =)

lem, we should set one up for alone together - I really need to read that book!

also, is there an admin section for the group? or does only the group creator have access to this? we should either give admin privileges to all, or at least set up 5-6 admins. just some thoughts =)

I'm new to this group area on Good Reads - but I will add you folks as admins as well. I think we could dedicate 1 book a month for the group to read & discuss. I also find it useful to see what is on your book shelves - so when you create your profile & start adding books that might give us suggestions on what to read.

each book we add to the group has the capability of its own discussion forum. I think whoever wants to get together and read a book and discuss it can do so, so it's a nice flexible system and whoever wants to partake can!

I agree with sava. Some books may not be relevant to everyone involved, but others may.

Goodreads is a great way to share information, write reviews, see what colleagues are reading, etc.

I would read this with both of you, too. I'm halfway through it already, but I'd be up for a good discussion of it.

I need to get my copy and start reading!! while I don't agree with all the points she makes, I don't disagree either =)

I'm open for reading a few suggested books and I like the idea of seeing what is on other people's shelves (for suggested reads). Alone Together is one I could definitely pick up to read.
