Don't be concerned about what others say or may think. I am a Christian as well and I find Wicca to be very interesting. In fact I used to be involved with it for a little while. Some of the concepts in the book are based on real Wicca but of coarse not all. Stay open minded!
I love these books! I'm a Wiccan and I was happy to see that a lot of the stuff is based off of Wicca. For example, the holidays they celebrate, the way the cast a circle and purify it with salt, the runes and the properties of the stones, etc. The biggest thing that you should keep in mind about Wicca and the book though is that magick does not work the way it does in the book. So don't worry about any Wiccans throwing witchfire at you! :D
Also, if you have any questions about Wicca, I'd be glad to answer to the best of my ability! Enjoy the books!

I'm a Christian but I really do respect the views of Wiccans. :D
Thanks! I was beginning to think that no one would reply on this thread! I am wondering if any of the history is accurate? Or somewhat accurate. The original families: Woodbane, Rowanwand, Burnhides, Leapvaughns, etc.
Yeah, I didn't think that the extraordinary magick stuff was real; witch fire, shapeshifting and stuff like that. But there is a lot of herbal belief and healing? And some "spells" based of faith or belief?
I bought "Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs" by Scott Cunningham. I've looked alot into it. And I also bought "The Wiccan Year" by Judy Ann Nock. But haven't had a chance to read much of it.
I am on pins and needles waiting for Volume 4 to be published!!!! : )
As for the Seven Great Clans, I haven't read anything about it in my studies so I assume that it's fictional. Moden-day Wicca can be traced back to a lot of older pagan traditions like the Druids or Celts or the Vikings even, so I think the author kind of made clans based on those older societies. The herbal healing and all of that is real and Tirenan did an excellent job incorporating it.
While the Seven Great Clans of Wicca themselves are not real, there is a view among some pagan and occult circles, that all mystical lines of thoughts/religions came from 7 Clans. Ironically, these clans have a great many of the same attributes as the Seven Great Clans. And I have meet people whose ENTIRE family claims to come from the Seven Great Clans. But thus far into my researching of them (5 years), I have found nothing that points to Tiernan believing they're real. Just a lot of coincidences between very old txts and other sources. . . .
Also, if you have you simply can't wait, your local library may have the books in single volumes to read. . . I read them back when all there was was the original cover single volumes.
I read them as well when they were just single cover books, before they were even all out yet.. if you love them so much lol think bout what it was like waiting for each one to get done being written that was hard, I've read the whole series more the 10 times because they are amazing and I absolutely love how the last book #15 ties up all loose ends for when Morgan gets old, and I wont say anymore on what happens because it will be a spoiler for those who havent yet read it. But on the the witchcraft side of the novels, I learned alot and it was captivating reading thats a true story, the characters draw you in and the witchcraft is made real for you, you get to learn things that most likely in your daily life you dont. Its just an amazing series. Teirnan has a new witchcraft series out right now as well about a young girl. look her up and you'll see. :D happy reading and "blessed be".
Like what Mandi?I am learning that the healing parts are very good, and I think that there is some truth to the power of chrystals. Even if it may be mind over matter. And I do believe in that! : )
I use the healing very often, herbs and crystals work well for that. I use protection spells and spells to rid negative energies.

I am Christian and my favorite series to read are the sweep ( read whole collection at least 20 times) over, and house of night ( at least ten times) I always have wondered how much of it was real. I know wicca is real and I respect wiccans as a culture. id even be willing to go to a circle if there were any wiccans in my area. but I know that people from church would flip ( like morgans parents) if they knew how serious I was about learning more about it

This series actually gets closer to real Wicca compared to any other like series I've read. It was really nice not just to read about fake spells that make you "glamorous." It's shame that Wicca often gets a bad reputation. I remember while staying at a friends house as a teenager I had a book about wicca. Her parents found it and lost it! They were Christians and said the book wasn't allowed in their house and pretty much shamed me for having it.
Wicca is all about doing good, we believe what you put into the world comes back. I feel that it's also about taking control over your own life and relying on ancestors to help guide you through difficult times. To be more like the earth, be still when we need to, be like a river and go with the flow when we should. Etc.

I don't know much about Wicca, and I am wondering how much of this book is based on real Wicca? Is the history correct, are the spells and enchantments, the properties of the stones, everything?
I know this could stir up some pretty heated debate. Wicca seems to be a contraversial subject. But please try to be nice when posting here. I have a pretty open mind, and I just want to learn a little more.
I am a christian, I don't go to church as much as I should. But part of me loves the idea of Wicca, using nature and your own inner power to better your own life.
