If you join the authors/readers group here at Goodreads often a new author will offer a coupon to get a book free at Smashwords. I have had two offer them to me. The one I am reading right now is great, but she is a friend and doesn't usually offer them.

Thanks for your interest in Regarding Ducks and Universes! As far as I know, the Kindle prices do vary somewhat from country to country - there might be a promotion going on in the U.S. Kindle store, but not in the U.K. one, for example. I knew the book was available on Amazon France, didn't know it was in their Kindle store as well!

OK, I see now that there is no Kindle France yet. Found a thread on Absolute Write Water Cooler that discusses the issue of cost differences -- it seems like there's an international surcharge that varies from country to country:

Actually, in Europe, Amazon charges the Value Added Tax on top of the US price. Hence the variance between countries :).

Well worth the less then 5 bucks to have on the Kindle and the art inside is great too, it has like over 20 bits of art in it that look good on the kindle.
