Where is your favourite place to read and why?

message 2: by Ice (new)

Ice Bear (neilar) What helps me zone in / tune out to read (and is a good reason for buying books beforehand) is whilst on holiday (in Gozo) - on the plane, in the airport , on the ferry, at the apartment ...... on an island full of charm .......... drives the wife mad !!

Trevor (sundowner) I like nothing more than some gentle music as background and to curl up on the sofa with tea/coffee close at hand and preferably the cookie jar close by :-))

mine is either my bedroom listening to music or sat at my sailing on the bank watching the race if it is a dry sunny day.

Ice Bear (neilar) One place I can't read is in bed, I just find it uncomfortable.

And one place I should never read is in the bath - my co-ordination cannot be trusted. Its a multi taksing parallel processing kind of thing.

i can read in bed but you do have to find the comfortable spot.
i agree that you shoudnt read in the bath as you can get the book wet and then the book would be ruined.

Angela (bookangel2) | 1454 comments I love to read in the bath! I think it's a throwback to the time when my children were little and reading time was drastically cut back, so made the most of relatively quiet moments. I have been known to dampen a few books, but find it very relaxing.
I like to read in bed and also when I'm cooking! There's nothing that takes away the boredom of stirring the gravy quite like a good book!

Chris Stanley (christinelstanley) | 922 comments I have a new reading chair my huband bought me when we were redecorating the lounge. High backed with wings and sumptuously upholstered. COSY!

Ellen (elliearcher) My dream is to get a new reading chair. Mine just got too old & kind of fell apart. I really miss that. Now I pretty much have to read in bed or at the computer.

Lately I do tend to fall asleep. I am sleeping as much as my poor old doggie. I can't read outside as allergic to pollen. My La-Z-Boy is not comfortable to read in for very long but I am prone to fibromyalgia/arthritis.

well recently i have been reading a lot outside due to the glourious sunshine in England which does not really happen during the summer. when its raining i read in my bedroom :)
ps sorry if i made any spelling mistakes...

Chris (calmgrove) Most of my reading is done in bed (good firm mattress and three pillows propped up does the trick!) before dropping off to sleep. During the day it's mostly either non-fiction, newspapers or magazines, preferably at the kitchen table with the sun streaming in. If it's raining then I feel less guilty reading inside because I can't do outside jobs!

Faye (theoddmissus) My favourite reading place has got to be my bed, with a cup of coffee/tea on the bedside table and some light music in the background. I love watching the sky, whether it's a starry night, or blue sky or even when it's overcast. Our bedroom windows don't have blinds, so when the curtain's drawn I can see the sky, the neighbours' rooftops, big trees and all, while sitting on the bed. When the weather is nice, I'll leave a window open and read my book while enjoying the breeze coming from it. Heaven.

That does sound like heaven. I love to see the night sky too.

Stephen | 95 comments mine is either in bed or in my comfy seat never in the bath as would probably drop it lol

message 18: by Chris (new)

Chris (calmgrove) Does your favourite place to read depend on whether it's a 'real' book or an e-reader? I've seen lots of people with a Kindle hunkering down anywhere to read, whether on public transport, in a crowd or in a cafe.

So far I only read real books and I have "my" spot on the sofa with my book nearby. I wouldnt try to read in the bath either.

Kat (bookworm2017) I like lying in bed or on bus and train on journeys especially long ones. Doesn't matter what kind of book.

Erin-Yvonne (erinpredmore) | 9 comments I love to read anywhere that I have a minute to read. I carry books with me everywhere that I go incase I have to wait for a minute. however my all time favorite place to read is in my bed next to my husband while he is reading!
