It's time for nominations again.

May/June Group Reads: There will be two categories this month.
Each member may nominate one (1) book only.

Category 1: Open - a book from any category
Category 2: A woman author (in honor of Mother's Day)

General rules for Group Reads

If your nomination wins - you will be the moderator.

One nomination per person. Authors, please no self-nominations.

Please do not repeat an author we have read in the last year.

Nominations will be open until Saturday, May 7, 2011, with voting until Thursday May 12, 2011.

For your nomination indicate which Category, use Title, Author and Link (use the "add book/author" link at top of comment box) please.

Since we are an international group, please check to make sure the book is readily available. Is it available in paperback? Used? Your local library? The last thing we want is to nominate a great book that no one can get!

Finally, a word about series - the joy or bane of a mystery reader’s life! Please consider whether the book you are nominating would be best read by someone who has read all the previous books in the series or can be enjoyed by someone new to the series too.

Thanks for your cooperation!

Can I remind nominators to use the "add book/author" link tool which you can find at the top of the comment box. This way we can all go and check out the book, and not check out the wrong one! Thanks

Instructions:
>> click on "add book/author". A pop up window will open with two tabs: "book" and "author"
>> click on one of the two tabs, type in the name of the book or the name of the author. Sometimes several choices will be shown.
>> click on the book or author that is your choice and voila!

This one is not really a mystery, Karen, as it is non-fiction (looks pretty interesting, however). Would you like to nominate another one?

I put this on the list, but I can't tell if it's really a mystery. It's listed here on Goodreads as "humor" and "adult fiction". Does anyone know the book?

How about I retract that book (it was not tagged mystery on Amazon, either) and replace it with The Woman in the Wing by Jean Sheldon?
Thanks!

message 31: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Cotterill (rachelcotterill) I'd really like to read Frozen Out by Quentin Bates; I'm reading another murder mystery with an Icelandic backdrop at the moment, and this one seems to get good reviews.

Manugw, you already nominated one for category 1 (where we have fewer books). Why don't you nominate Agatha Christie next month?

Karen wrote: "We don't count true crime?"

I hadn't thought about it when I set up the categories for this month. Donna and I had a fast think and we have decided to keep it to fiction this month, but next month we will have "true crime" as the second category, so you'll be able to nominate it then.

Sorry about the confusion.

I think there are other editions but there are some "combining issues". This link should do it: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/82...

If you look at message #1 at the top of the page, the instructions say: "May/June Group Reads: There will be two categories this month.
Each member may nominate one (1) book only."

Not one book for each category. Sorry for the confusion.

Manugw Ok, thank you so my choice is True Crime by Andrew Klavan

It's a Soho Crime book, Donna. Already out in hardcover.

So the question is is "Frozen Assets" (the Soho hardcover) the same book as "Frozen Out" (the ebook for Kindle)?

Update

Quick check of the internet seems to indicate that it's the same book.

Sorry--I didn't even absorb the 'Out' rather than 'Assets'. The Quentin Bates Icelandic series #1 is Frozen Assets.

I think it has been published under both titles (Hate it when they do that!) The link I gave in message #42 shows both of them under "other editions".

Hi Lou... just noticed now: Gatorman already nominated that one. Would you like to nominate another? (Maybe for Category 1 which needs a few more books?)
