Do you think the pictures and scribblings are a meaningful and integral part of the work.

I think the pictures and scribblings are a stream of consciousness sort of thing. I don't think any meaning is going to be found from them that are directly related to the story, it's just a visual way of getting in the character's head.
Do you think Oskar has an effect on the different people he encounters throughout his quest? What kind of effects does he have on them?
I think that Oskar must have a significant impact on their lives just because he's so honest. It's probably very unusual for a stranger to be so straight forward and genuinely interested in their personal life. He has a way of getting them to open up about themselves. I think he gives them a purpose that they weren't aware of. I definitely think it's something that the people he encounters appreciate, although a few of them are uncomfortable with his prying.
