Fr. Andrew (nitesead) Okay, I need to read some new queer poets. Poets with four or fewer books published, and no "collected" or "selected" poem books yet.

I'm in a class in which we are to do this with a new poet, get to know her or his work. I'd like to focus on a queer poet.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I'm having trouble when I google on this. Thanks in advance!

Trebor Healey is a new Queer poet.

Also check out Henri Cole.

Mark Doty is worth a look.

Michael I agree with Rambling Reader that Mark Doty is worth a look. He won the 2008 National Book Award for Poetry.

Christopher (chennessy) | 1 comments Hi, A lot of the poets folks are mentioning are older poets, relatively speaking. Siken is a good one, but there are LOTS LOTS more. Depends on what kind of poet you are looking for. Surf over to areyououtsidethelines.blogspot.com and you should find something of interest. You can do searches for young gay queer, etc. GOOD LUCK!

Lynn Lorenz (lynnlorenz) | 1 comments TA Chase is a wonderful gay romance writer, and does some touching poetry, but it's not published anywhere but on his blog site. tachase.blogspot.com

Stephanie | 1 comments Staceyann Chin is brilliant. She is of the slam poet variety, and if it was possible, I think she could breathe fire. :-) http://www.staceyannchin.com/v2/index...

Another slam poet to look into: Andrea Gibson. http://www.andreagibson.org/

And Alix Olson http://www.alixolson.com/

They're all brilliant. :)
