What do you think of Room by Emma Donoghue for August?
Lonely Polygamist by Brady Udall for Sept maybe? Other ideas?

Alicen | 1 comments If we're going heavy I would highly recommend "Matterhorn" by Karl Marlantes

Wow, Matterhorn does sound heavy, but good. Also, looking at these titles for the rest of the year:
The Gargoyle, Sleight, Freedom, Shadow of the Wind, The Secret History, another local, a classic, Moonwalking with Einstein (probably next year)

other contenders: Just Kids, Windup Girl, Skippy Dies, Autobio of Mark Twain?

& what classic should we do this year?

Eli | 1 comments I liked The Windup Girl quite a bit, but maybe more for genre fans than for dabblers.

Yes, for August we will do Room by Emma Donoghue.

Future picks may include:
The Lonely Polygamist - Brady Udall
Swamplandia - Karen Russell
The Gargoyle - Andrew Davison
Freedom - Jonathan Franzen
Next - James Hynes
The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian
by Sherman Alexie
Skippy Dies - Paul Murray or
An Evening of Long Goodbyes: A Novel by Paul Murray
The Blind Assassin - Margaret Atwood
Driftless - David Rhodes
Sleight - Kirsten Kaschock

Or might not. Suggest something fresh! Thanks for reading.

Haley Rogers (haleyrogers) | 2 comments Room was a really good book, who knew how interesting such a small location, and mind, could end up being. Good choice.
