It's just only that I can't just believe why everybody in general (in the media, wherever the siblings go, Mr Poe) says that the Baudelaires are troublesome and not well-behaved children when in the end Count Olaf is unmasked, admits his villanious schemes, and runs away while everybody can see and presence it with their own eyes.
Why does everyone blame the Baudelaires for what had happened and forget about Count Olaf´s presence?

long answer: Adults often ignore kids. Many of them do. The newspaper just cares about headlines and Mr. Poe (if I remember correctly) is not a bright man and Count Olaf is an excellent manipulator but The Baudelaires often find allies. they are seen as a nuisance and that makes them easier to prey on.
Short answer: Because the author needed their lives to be as unfortunate as possible for the series to suit it's title.

BECAUSE THE BAUDELAIRES LIVE IN A WORLD OF CORRUPT AND MESSED UP PEOPLE.
I think it is like what happen in reality the right and the wrong may be clear before people's eyes "media or community" but they choose to not see it unfortunately
I think the stupidity of the adults is taken a bit far, but in the Netflix series, Mr. Poe's wife is the journalist for the newspaper which goes both ways on how Mr. Poe is so blind and the newspaper is so messed up.
It's true. The author wants to make their lives as miserable as possible. But I do agree Marisa. The stupidity of the adults is quite far fetched. Especially considering the fact that Count Olaf himself has admitted to his villainous behaviour countless times, knowing the adult's non-existent brains couldn't cause any harm to him.
