have anyone tried it? is it good? i am a very slow struggling reader, so i usually make sure one is good before buying unless if it's King's :D. this one wasn't written by him, so i am in doubt.

I will be finishing the last DT book (only a few pages left), and wondered a lot about the plot.. so i am hoping this Concordance book could help me provides some more insights about DT and my beloved tet.

I have it in the split set, The Dark Tower: A Concordance, #1 and The Dark Tower: A Concordance, #2 , and I haven't read it from cover to cover like a regular book, but I've used it to look things up from time to time, characters I couldn't remember, meanings of words, the maps of the different places they go are in there too. It's great to have as a reference.

I found it excellent, a real refresher for the books as a series. It explains a few things you may not have picked up while reading through, at least it did for me.

Thank you for starting this thread! It's interesting.

Anyway, I haven't read the Concordance (I don't even own a copy, actually,) but I've heard positive things. And like the title implies, it isn't really meant to be read from cover-to-cover. Think of it more as a reference guide. BTW, I've also been told that it's very insightful. I believe it's King Approved, as well!

On the SK message board on his site there's been some talk of Robin Furth possibly updating it, and adding new stuff to include The Wind Through The Keyhole, but that's not official or nothing yet, just talk, but I do hope it gets updated it and adds more stuff, because that'd make it even better.

i think i might get the Concordance, i was hoping it could get me to understand more about the ending and Roland miserable destiny.

seems that King's ending always like this; making me angry and wanting more at the same time..

Fairul- I understand why you would be a bit turned-off or angry about The Dark Tower's ending (I was very frustrated, myself,) but I firmly believe that it couldn't have been any different.

BTW, what are your thoughts on the series, overall?

The concordance doesnt provide insight, it is more a catalog of names, places and terminology. I have been meaning to buy it myself because i do feel DT is a fantastic contribution to American literature.

It would be cool if some literary critic did some sort of analytical guide examining the series and its mythological, historical, and other -ical allusions.

I bought this, I found it a complete waste of money. It was disappointing.

No real insight in TCC, but it does organize the info nicely since it's been years since my last DT read through. A good and insightful book is Bev Vincent's DT Companion. It gave me some things to think about in retrospect.

I found Robin Furth's narrative sections of the Dark Tower comics to be so much more informative than this. She really fleshes out the world that King created without undermining any of it.
