2) Must be paperback, unless hardback is the only choice.
3) They all have to have the same series of covers. All matching. (GRRRRRR STUPID SOOKIE STACKHOUSE SERIES! They stopped making the glossy ones at like number nine what the hell>???!!
4)Keep them neat looking.

That's exactly what I have going on. lol When my husband first passed away in November, anytime I would get depressed or sad or whatever, I would go buy some books. So I have TONS that I haven't gotten around to reading. Right now, I'm trying not to buy any though. The only ones I've bought in the past three months are Halfway to the Grave and City of Fallen Angels. So I've done pretty good. :)

Sorry about your husband Catherine, I know that doesnt change anything or make you feel any better, plus I normally hate it when people say that sort of thing especially to me, but I don't feel right ignoring your sentence and acting as if it wasnt there. :)

2 - dont dog ear page
3 - dont write on book
4 - if a series dont buy half hard copies and half paperback
5 - dont wet book
6 - have clean hands

4) Keep them in safe places, not out in the open or on the floor where they can get dirty and stepped on.
5) Buy paperbacks, they're cheaper and easier to carry around

I HATE that.. I especially hate it when you can't avoid doing it. You know how some are made a certain way and its hard not to put lines in it?? Frustrating...

1) Don't mix and match hardcover and paperbacks in a series! (Someone once gifted me a paperback volume in a series I'd been buying hardcovers for...that still makes me sad and uncomfortable to look at!)
2) No dog-earing pages!!! EVER! *snarl*
3) Never skim ahead. Especially not to the end!
4) Never lend books that are hard to come by. They have a way of disappearing, causing much grief and lamentation.
5) Write every day. (Read, too, but for me writing every day is even more important!)

I'm totally with you on this Artemis!

I HATE that.. I especially hate it when you can't avoid doing it. You know how some are made a certain way and its hard not to put lines in it..."
Yes I know those books! I barely open them and I can barely read but I try my best not to fold the spine!

2. If it's a series all covers have to match.
3. Prefer hardbacks instead of paperbacks because when I have them in my bag the edges always get bent and stuff. :D
4. If it's a paperback I always put a crease in the middle. I don't know why I just do.
5. Before buying the book I always read the first sentence and the last.
6. No dog-earing pages. Like ever. I keep my books in top condition. At least I try, because let's face it, my dog apparently likes to read and then tear out the pages afterwards.
7. Always have clean hands when reading. :)

1- ALWAYS read a series in order
2- never buy a book until I've read it and loved it enough that I'll read it again
I also agree with Artemis about removing the jacket.

2. Be nice to the books, avoid excessive tossing (unless you hate it), don't bend pages, and NO writing in the books (my copy of Brave New World I bought used and has writing everywhere!).
3. You can read in the bathtub, just don't let water get on it and don't drop it (I did this to one of my copies of Esperanza Rising)
4. Don't squeeze books on to shelves, if needed stack them in front of others.
5. If you can afford to pay for hardback books do so, they are harder to kill. ( I have a paperback copy of Harry Potter #6 that literately has one page connecting one half to the other.)
6.Do not lose the red ribbon while reading! (I usually lose book marks, but this one I'll of had for 2 years this coming Christmas)
7. Use sticky notes, folded up Kleenex, or little scraps of paper to mark quotes.

1 - Try to get books at the library for free as much as you can.
2 - Save for the books you can't get at the library.
3 - Do NOT, under any circumstances, dog-ear a book!
4 - Don't take thick bookmarks, handkerchiefs will do.
5 - Try to get the book intact. ( I have a copy in hardcover of The Host and the cover (not book jacket) has lots of scratches, and it drives me insane every time I read it again!)
6 - Try rereading books I bought.
7 - If it's a series, read in order.

1. read at least 1 good and 1 bad review before buying.
2. dont lend out more than 1 book at a time too a friend. my friend still has 5 of mine.
3. NEVER DOG EAR
4. keep in a bookshelf and alphabetize (slight OCD)
5. try not to skim through to see if the characters name thats in a life threatening situation comes up again to make sure they are still alive :) (bad habbit)

2. keep on a bookshelf and categorize by favorite series and keep with its series
3. resist the urge to skip to the end to see what happens (really bad habit)
4. don't throw the book around, scrape it up, or rip it
5. if I lend them to friends, they have to respect my rules and the book

2. Never open my book to far; I don't like cracks in the spine.
3. Read a series in the right order.
4. Buy them in paperback unless there is no other option.
5. Keep them in their right place on my shelves.
6. Make a wish list with books I really, really, really want to own. Make other lists with books I will buy after those :p

1. First come, first serve. I read my books in order of purchase. (Disregarded because of The Fallen and City of Ashes.)
2. Buy all books in the same edition. (Disregarded in the past, being careful now.)
Well, I can't remember my other rules. :)) I would like to know what your book rules are. :)
