What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I read this book in the early 1990’s, possibly end of the 1980’s. I was so certain that the stepmother was Cynthia and her stepdaughter the heroine, Maddy. I remember that the hero found Maddy up in a croft and assumed that she was waiting for a young man. They proceeded to do the deed, hero realises his mistake and hastily marries her in secret without letting her stepmother know for various reasons. I thought that the hero’s name was Nicholas......it wasn’t! It was Jason.
I have since reread this book and as many of you have guessed it is ‘Fallen Angel’ by the late great Elizabeth Thornton.
However, the book that has me going round the bend is similar I think. I must have muddled two books together. In the aforementioned book there was no sexual relationship between the Viscount and Cynthia....this is important as you will see!
There is a nobleman who finds himself some sort of guardian to (and this is conjecture as I am really not at all sure about this) or in the company of, the young maiden heroine. At some point there must be an attraction because he does ‘the deed’ with her which results in her being pregnant. His paramour and the woman I think he was considering marrying is furious because, and this is the scene that stands out for me, he was always insistent on using a ‘sheep’s skin sheath or French letter’..... aka condoms.....with her and obviously this little rule flew out the window when he bedded the young heroine!
Any ideas please, anyone???!!!

This sounds a lot like Temptation by Catherine Hart to me (even though you wouldn't guess it from the book's description).

**SPOILERS**

In Temptation, Grant ends up sleeping with Amanda/getting her preganant (despite the fact he is already engaged to another not-so-nice neighbor) - Because of her previous occupation (riverboat gambler), Grant is VERY surprised to find out Amanda is a virgin. Also, Grant feels very guilty for not marrying his former-fiancee/neighbor because they had been intimate on several occasions, and ends up being very surprised towards the end of the book when he discovers that the former-fiancee/neighbor had not been a virgin (and is a bit of a hussy!)

After giving it some serious thought I think that it is not TEMPTATION by CATHERINE HART as I am fairly certain that the book is set in Britain as aristocracy are mentioned. I feel that the hero is in fact a member of the nobility.
This however dosen't mean that I will not add this book to my pile of pending books to read!

Melanie George wrote one like this. I remember the "French Letter" and the lady that he was seeing was furious and tried to break the hero and heroine up. Now I just have to remember what the title was.

Possible Guardian/Ward scenario… neglected to use Sheath aka Condom!!!guardian gets ward pregnant! Ooops!!

Details are very sketchy. This was a Regency/Georgian/Historical/Signet romance. The notorious male MC is somehow made guardian to a young woman, the female MC. He is getting ready to marry her after having had ‘relations’ with her which could or do result in pregnancy. The scene that I remember that stands out is where his long term mistress who was hoping to be his missus is hopping mad as he has never done the deed with her without using a ‘sheath’ (made from sheeps innards….eeewww!!), but conveniently doesn’t use one with the young lady!
