Odd Apocalypse (Group Read - August 2012)
I recently started Forever Odd, so I'll be looking forward to this. At least I'll only have to wait a year between books 4 and 5, assuming Dean stays on schedule. :-P

Do you mean the one year planned between books 5 and 6? Book 4 was published a number of years ago. Since you're only on the second book I don't think you'll have to wait a whole year unless you plan to read 3 Odd Thomas books by the end of next month :-)

My plan is to finish book 2 in May, probably by next weekend, and read books 3 and 4 in June. Therefore, I'll only have to wait from June 2011 until June 2012 to read book 5 after reading book 4.
Dustin Crazy wrote: "Okay, well enjoy your Odd experience. Do you think you will ever re-read a Dean Koontz book?"Thanks, I'm sure I will. :-) Not for many years, if ever. I just remember them too well to spend time rereading them, when there are so many other books that I want to read but haven't yet.
It's about time although, I am glad that he finished the Dead Town so I guess it was worth waiting for.
Dean Koontz has been a favourite writer of mine since I read Mr Murder about 12 years ago, since then intermittently I have read several others. Now on the frankenstein and odd Thomas series's. Trying to collect as many of his books as possible.
I love all the odd Thomas books. I buy them on audiobook and have listened to them several times. I have also listened to many other dean koontz books most recently "What the Night Knows"
From Dean's Holiday issue of USELESS NEWS:
ODD APOCALYPSE and DEEPLY ODD
Dean is currently writing ODD APOCALYPSE, the fifth Odd Thomas novel, which will be published in July 2012. As soon as he has finished it, he will write the sixth in the series, DEEPLY ODD. Then he will most likely write a non-Odd book before returning to the seventh and final book in the series.

I just finished rereading all 4 of the Odd Thomas books and on whim googled "Odd Thomas 5." I was pleased to see that another is coming out soon! A pleasant surprise! Which of his books should I read while I wait?
Dany wrote: "...Dean said he is planning on connecting these two series in some manner and we see the beginning of the connections in Odd Hours by names on a couple of shirts Odd is wearing...."Where has he said he plans to unite the two series further? I suggested he do that in a letter I wrote him last July and his reply suggested he wasn't really considering it.
Dany wrote: "Jason "plasborgma" wrote: "Really! This is the first I've heard new information. That news makes me kind of sad. I was hoping for a tie in. I first heard about it at the end of November 2008 on a Barnes and Noble video blog where Dean discussed it. I tried to link the video for you but it's no longer available. He did say he wasn't certain that he'd do it for sure. I guess he decided against it. Thanks for the update Jason."I remember watching a vlog he did for B&N at about that time, so I might have seen that one also. That was before I had read the Odd Thomas series, so I likely wouldn't have retained that bit of information even if I had seen it. While he didn't definitively say in the letter that he wouldn't do a joint adventure between Odd and Chris, he didn't give any indication that he had any plans for it either. He said he would see where the characters took him, because they have evolved a life of their own. I'll let you read into that what you will. :-)
The first i knew about a new Odd book was just a couple of weeks ago, only knew because of the little info given at the end of 77 Shadow Street, Odd Apocalypse is going to be great, i can feel it in my bones. Wish i could travel to the future and grab a copy now.
There's going to be an Odd Thomas novella, Odd Interlude, that's going to be released bit-by-bit from April until June. Awesome!

Awesome Indeed :-) Thanks for the info.

Dany wrote: "...I didn't like YHBTM cover either. It has a soap opera look about it."Agreed, or perhaps like the cover of a cheesy romance novel.
Dany wrote: "That's what I meant...lol, I was trying not to insult romance novels, but since you went there....yeah, the cheesy ones."I'm sure there are some decent romance novels (in the opinions of some) whose covers are much better than that of YHBtM.
Nina wrote: "Nice cover. I wonder if the storm indicates Stormy is going to have a role in this installment."I don't know. Koontz keeps hinting that Stormy will manifest somehow, like he did in Brother Odd and with Annamaria too I think. Honestly, I don't know where the man is gonna take it, and I'm interested to see what he's gonna do next.

I know - it is way overdue. I keep nominating Odd Hours as a group read to get ready for Odd Apocalypse.

"Dean is at work on the fifth novel featuring the fry cook who can see the lingering dead. ODD APOCALYPSE is tentatively scheduled for publication in June 2012. Having fled Magic Beach, where ODD HOURS was set, Oddie finds shelter on a 20-acre estate in Santa Barbara, a place owned by a legendary film director and good friend of Hutch Hutchison (the elderly actor from ODD HOURS). The estate is going to seed, and it is a place of terrible secrets. The 6th in this series will be published in 2013, and Odd will begin his journey back to Pico Mundo, where his ultimate fate has always awaited him."
