5.1. At the Shore. Read a book set primarily on an island or at the seashore or a lakeshore. Here's a list to help you get started. Down by the Sea.
The usual caution applies to using Goodreads lists - they can give you some good ideas, but the books listed may not actually fit the task so you need to exercise judgment.

For the purposes of this task, an island refers to tracts of land surrounded by water, typically with beaches or rocky shores. It does not include countries, though technically islands, not commonly identified as "island": England, Australia, etc. Some locations within these countries may apply: ex. Australia's Norfolk Island. Please ask if you are unsure.

For the "shore," think beach.

I haven't read the book, but as I recall the movie, it was predominantly set in the jungle, not at the seashore or on an island. If that's the case for the book, it wouldn't work, even though it is set around the Amazon River.

Sorry to be so slow answering - I think I missed your question!

I don't think this works - from what I can tell from the description, it doesn't seem to be set at the shore. While New Zealand is technically an "island," there's also plenty of inland that wouldn't include a seashore type setting.

I just got this from the library the other day! I never would have thought to read it based on the cover, but I've had friends give it such great reviews. I'm really looking forward to it now.

Sounds like the main setting is on a boat, in which case it does not work.

No, that doesn't really work for this task. there are a lot of tasks this time that involve travel, though, so there should be plenty of other spots for this book!

From the book description, sounds like the setting is Manhattan - so that doesn't work, even if Manhattan is "technically" an island - it's not an island in the beaches, rocky shores sense.

Rebekah (bekalynn) | 99 comments If someone needs a little help, I have a book called The Summer Book by Tove Jansson The Summer Book by Tove Jansson in Book Swap if anyone needs a book. It could fulfill any of the following tasks;
5.1 Takes place on an island
5.4 double m, double o and double s
15.3 Takes place in Finland
10.3 If, like me, the thought of spending time on a little isolated island in the cold Northern Sea gives you the willies
20.3 or...If the above setting is your dream come true
5.8 If bookSwap counts as "free"
30.10 Read a book with any of the three words in its title?
30.6 If you rolled a 6 for the second task.
30.4 Summer in title and set in a European country.
20.5 Anyone with Scandanavian ancestors?
This book has 170 pgs
