What do you do if you didn't enjoy the first book of a series but are still curious as to if it gets better or how it ends? What about if you get half-way through a series and get bored...do you still read the rest? What about if a series just seems to drag on, you don't exactly hate it but you're not sure if you love it enough to keep reading? How do you handle these types of issues when reading series books?

J.A. Beard (jabeard) I've stopped plenty of series in the middle. This is particularly a problem in epic fantasy.

I can't say I ever purposefully tried a later book in a series if the first one wasn't good. There were a few of times when I did it inadvertently. In only one case did I end up reading more.

Jan Marquart (goodreadscomjan_marquart) | 1 comments You're so right. In your comment on a series dilemma -- I never want to read the sequel to a book if the first one isn't interesting. Of course, I didn't have that problem with Volition.

haha, glad to hear it! I have a few series that I'm reading now, some I care to finish, others I don't.

Literary Chanteuse I tend to just stick it out and hope it gets better in the next book. I hate to give up on a book.

I'm totally the same way, It's one reason why I'm putting off starting a few series now...I don't want to hate them and HAVE to read them anyway. haha.
