I've stopped plenty of series in the middle. This is particularly a problem in epic fantasy.I can't say I ever purposefully tried a later book in a series if the first one wasn't good. There were a few of times when I did it inadvertently. In only one case did I end up reading more.
You're so right. In your comment on a series dilemma -- I never want to read the sequel to a book if the first one isn't interesting. Of course, I didn't have that problem with Volition.

haha, glad to hear it! I have a few series that I'm reading now, some I care to finish, others I don't.

I have to finish a series when I start it....I kinda hate it but I cant help it lol!!! just a pet peeve if I start it might as well finish it!
I'm totally the same way, It's one reason why I'm putting off starting a few series now...I don't want to hate them and HAVE to read them anyway. haha.
