The Handmaid's Tale is one of my favorite books of all time. I've read it, maybe 5 or 6 times and come back to it at least once a year. I've been meaning to read Oryx and Crake, but always seem to end up putting it off.I've also been meaning to read Dead Reckoning because I have read the others in the series and Game of Thrones is on my "to read" list too.
I've read Dead Reckoning but I wouldn't mind reading it again. I read it really fast so I forgot some of it haha
Or, if we wanted a good laugh, we could read the new Laurell K. Hamilton book coming out next week. The past few in the Anita Blake series haven't even gotten 2.5 stars on Amazon.

I've been wanting to read A Handmaid's Tale and Game of Thrones. Also, I've been meaning to read the Hunger Games series - idk if I should be embarrassed by that or not.

I read the first two in a couple of days, and I read the third one pretty quickly. One warning - the third one starts out slow, but it does pick up and has a great ending, imo.
I've already read Dead Reckoning. I'd love to read A Handmaid's Tale, and I'm willing to read A Game of Thrones.
oh man i want to read the game of thrones! and i think i read the handmaids tale in high school sometime. it was creepy as hale, but so good. also i've heard good things about china mieville and need to get round to reading one of his books..
I need to read A Game of Thrones, for sure. A Handmaid's Tale is scarring but so, so worth it. Embassytown sounds interesting too.
Game of Thrones would be awesome. I bought the boxset a while ago but I haven't been able to start it yet. I'm loving the show and it'd be great to not have to skip spoilers during ONTD discussions, haha.I've already read A Handmaid's Tale but it's such a great book I wouldn't mind a re-read.
A Game of Thrones and A Handmaid's Tale are both on my to-read list, and it would be great to have that final push to get to the both of them.
I'm down for A Game of Thrones. I'm so tired of changing the topic of conversation every time it comes up so I don't look dumb. Although I usually change the topic to me, so that's fun, too.
So right now we have A Game of Thrones, Dead Reckoning, A Handmaid's Tale, and Children of Men as realistic suggestions. Any more?
I'll put out Caleb's Crossing by Geraldine Brooks as a suggestion! It's recently released and it's a fictional account of Caleb Cheeshah-teaumuck, who was the first Native-American to graduate from Harvard college, and his friendship with Bethia Mayfield, a girl living in a different world with a minister father. Looks like it could be a good read.
I'm going to end the suggesting early and just vote this evening! So if you have any suggestions, please post them by 6 pm EST.
I just finished "Game of Thrones" and read "Dead Reckoning" right before that after going to a book discussion/signing by Charlaine Harris. As they are both fresh in my mind, I'd be up for discussing either!
I don't mind Game of Thrones! I finished it and it seems like ONTD is obsessed (seems like? :D?) with the book and series.

And yet, enough people buy those books to keep her writing. :|

I think half the books are bought by LKH's handlers to hide from her the fact nobody likes her writing nowadays.[..."
Also, the poll ends in an hour so be sure to vote! Less than half the members have so far! Discussion post will go up when I finish moving from NJ to NC tomorrow night or Monday morning.
