haha, me neither. But I've had a few people suggest it. I feel like it's worth a shot, it seems to be where a lot of the sales come from for Indie books. But...like you, I don't know from personal experience. I like to hold a physical book in my hands. :)

The truth is that i prefer the paperbacks but usually i have to wait for 20-40 days for a book...but on kindle they r just one click away!!!

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. It's one of the reasons I'm considering it. You can buy from Amazon.com even from Greece? I'm not sure how the US site works when making purchases from other countries.

By the way....Soooo jealous! haha. My husband is part Greek, hence the last name Maravel, originally Maravelious. We are both dying to get over there! And one day...I swear, I will! :)

And i hope to have your books in Greece soooooonnnnn!!!

About amazon ..we can buy them there but because we are part of the E.U they cost us like three times their price....because of the customs clearance and we need a credit card!!!

Yeah, Greece is a MUST see on my list. We are both beach bums so it's right up our ally! :) We've been living in Germany for over two years now, stationed here with the Army, and I'm half-German by blood so I figure it would be nice to see some of his "home land" haha.

Oh man, that sucks. :( I wish it wasn't so difficult for you. I've met so many great people on here from over there and I hate to think thar, if they want to read my books, it's a hassle... :(

Yes, Germany is beautiful, Europe in general. It all make the US seem so boring. haha. I think it's cool how so many people from other countries speak English, it's great for communicating, but it makes me wish I knew other languages so that I could extend the same respect.

That's awesome! I hope that you enjoy them!

Yeah, for me being an author isn't just about selling a book, it's about making friends, selling your own brand. If people don't like you...or you're not relatable and willing to get to know your readers then the likelihood of sticking around is less so.

Besides, readers and writers alike are all so great! I feel like people who enjoy reading are a breed of their own, especially the people I've met here. Everyone is so supportive and just really nice! :)

Nikoleta Katsiouli (nikols_way) | 5 comments We are nice only because u r GREAT!!

That's true english is the "common" language!!
In Greece is expected to speak English..we have them in school from the third grade (*in primary school)!!
In the age of 15 we have our degree in english!
Actually most people in Greece speak at least english and the majority a second one!!I speak Spanish!!Not as good as i want but i try!!

And u r right people who enjoy reading are a breed of their own!!
It would be great if all authors were as nice and kind as u!! :)

Wow, three languages?! Shesh! My husband and I wanted to learn Italian together...not that either of us is Italian, it would just be cool to speak it together, especially in public, just to feel like we have a secret (less common) language to communicate it. :)

Awe, thank you! Most Indie authors seem to be pretty easy to talk to and communicate with, they seem human...while other, more well known authors might act like Gods among us mere mortals, haha. I hope that if I ever really progress in my career that I never forget about my readers and lose my head. Otherwise I hope never to get that far. It's a shame when people can't take the time to speak to those who made their career possible...no matter what that career is!

Nikoleta Katsiouli (nikols_way) | 5 comments Italian...nice!!
My cousin speaks Italian she wants to go to italy for a semester!!She studies economy and rural development!!
I know what u mean...it's so fanny when we travel..everyone is like...hmmm and where r u from??
what language is this??And in some cases they r like..."You have to be Greeks..speak and laught loud..Greeks"

Indie author or "God" author i think that u have it or u dont!!
And u have it, u r a people's person...kind and open...i hope u 'll become so famous that it will be possible to see u in Greece!!
Greece is going to be one of the many European countries u will visit!!

Oh man, I love Italy, we went there for a week last May. I'm in love, especially Venice!!!

Oh, so being loud is a Greek thing...that explains EVERYTHING, haha. My husband is sooooo loud. :-p

Awe, you're a sweetheart! If I ever have the good fortune to do a book tour...let alone one over seas I will surely hit you up and give you fair warning! :) Seriously, I love this site. haha. I've met the sweetest people here!!!

Richard wrote: "I think it's a good move Shawn. Will you use DGM?"

Yeah, I agree. What's DGM?

I'm going to break down and pay for the books to be converted by my publishing company. I've tried several times to figure it out on my own but it doesn't seem to be working and I want it to be professional quality.

Once my new covers are published I'll be going about making the books available on Kindle.

Richard Godwin | 10 comments Digital Rights Managemnt Shawn, there's a big debate about it with many people complaining it is restrictive, but I feel an author wants their copyright protected and wihout it there is a lot of piracy. Do you own the digital rights to your book or will you have to go through your publisher?

I own the digital rights. I don't want people to be able to upload it for free though. What are your thoughts on the subject?

message 18: by Richard (new)

Richard Godwin | 10 comments I think authors should insist on Digital Rights Management, if you nicked a book from a shop that would be considered theft, how come it's different online? We put a lot of work into wriitng and there needs to be some respect shown for that. If you own the digital rights do it yourself. You will have all the profit and foreign rights.

Literary Chanteuse Yes I think it's a great idea. I don't have one yet but.... I hope to very soon! There are a lot of people I've noticed that have them now. I'm still old school since I prefer to have a book in my hands but it does open up a lot of possibilities. Plus it sure takes a lot less room when one is limited on space. For Book lovers it's easy to allow them to take over the house! lol!

Rick-Founder JM CM BOOK CLUB | 1 comments absolutely wonderful idea! full support!!

I self-published through createspace, so I have the rights for it, not the publisher. So I'm definitely looking into the site you gave me and I'll be seeing if I can do it myself. Thanks for all the help!

I don't have a kindle, hence why I wasn't really in a rush to convert it but I've had a lot of requests and it seems to be a valuable tool, especially for those out of the US to be able to read my books. I'm with you though, I like the physical book too. ;)
