The Book Thief
I cried so damn much at the end. I'm not telling you why. You'll have to read it to find out. :p It's on my top 10 books list, I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

I also cried with The Shadow of the Wind, which is a beautiful story, with very, very sad moments.

I don't know why I've been so sensitive lately. Even Coraline made drop a few tears when I finished (!).

Oooh yeah I cried at Dumbledore's death. I cried in Black Beauty as well when Ginger's being taken to be turned into glue.

I hated Harry Potter at first. I only started loving it with The prisoner of Azkaban, which is my favourite book of the series.

That's probably my favourite as well. I also liked Chamber of Secrets.
well, i may as well say one that may make people cry just so i can comment, or at least feel sorry its

All the Georgia Nicolson books make me cry... but they are tears of laughter and not tears of sorrow. Still, a book hilarious enough to make my laugh so much I cry? That's rare!
(Starts with Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging written by Louise Rennison.)
Also, Jeshu, you're almost certain to cry at the end of Shadow Kiss then! Even I almost cried there!

More recently it was Inkspell and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

The first book that made me cry when I was a kid was
. I was really heartbroken - a book had never affected me that way before - my mum was a little bit concerned.
Now it's very rare that I cry at books but
recently got me very close at one point.

A few people have mentioned the Book Thief as a weepy one. Is it worth reading even if it's going to make me cry?

It is DEFINITELY worth reading. It's a very intense book. It's almost as if you know you don't like what you're about to "see" but you can't just look away from it.
The book is really gripping.
I recommend it, but be warned: You will cry your eyes out.
I second this. I gave The Book Thief to my mum a few years ago and she hasn't read it yet. I'm constantly hounding her to read it. It's a very emotional story and it's so well written that you get pulled into it all before you know what's happening.

I will add it to my 'to-read' list and make sure I have a big box of tissues at the ready when I get to it. :)

Thankfully, these were all happy cries :)

I heard a lot of readers cried at The Time Traveler's Wife. I read her other book,
, though and hated it so I doubt I'll ever read anything else by her.

Message in a Bottle
Nicholas Sparks always makes me cry. Can't wait for his new one to come out. He's just finished the manuscript.

I do get misty eyed quite a bit, to a ridiculous extent. Happens in movies, too. I'm probably the only ditz in the world that gets misty eyed over action movies because it's so emotional when they finally kiss *sniff, sniff* (I kid you not).

i rarely cry at books but these got me:

and the librarian read this to my class and i started crying...

I read
and loved it. There was one bit at the end that got me choked up. Then I read
and didn't like it much at all - it's nothing like The Time Traveler's Wife.
A lot of Nicholas Sparks novels being mentioned here as weepies. I've only read one -
- but I didn't really enjoyed it, which has put me off reading any others. The film of The Notebook made me cry though!

I shall consider giving it a go then. :) But I'm not sure whether I've heard too much bad about it (such as the relationship being presented as boarderline paeophilic as he's grooming Claire to be his wife as of a very young age) to really enjoy it. At least I know that Her Fearful Symmetry was just bad.

Yikes, I've never heard that idea of it before. I can see how some might view it that way but because of the style of the story, flitting back and forth through time, I didn't feel that way and it never seemed creepy (unlike Her Fearful Symmetry).
Whenever a book gets really hyped up the reviews end up covering such a broad range of opinion I sometimes find it impossible to decide whether to read it or not, or, like you say, I get worried my enjoyment of it will be tainted, like I will be looking out for flaws other people have mentioned. I usually end up just doing it out of morbid curiosity, as I did with

Haha, don't read the rest of that series, I can tell you now that it's pretty bad. =)

I definitely won't be and that is actually really rare for me. I usually want to see something through to the end just to get closure but I can't bring myself to do it with the Fallen series. I can't remember another character I've ever disliked as much as Luce.
