Oh, do I have 'em.

1. Rick's wife Lisa had a reservoir condition of Ovarian KA. He said in FEED she killed herself. But now knowing from DEADLINE what we know -- did she really, or was it The Bad Guys who killed her and made it look like an accident?

2. How did Georgia get exposed to live state KA when she was small? The two theories I've heard so far are: A) Her birth mother amplified dying in childbirth B) The Masons, either accidentally or intentionally exposed her to live state KA since they were perfectly willing to do whatever to those kids would get them ratings points.

Anybody else got unanswered questions to mull and skull over while we wait the interminable year for BLACKOUT?

Also: If you missed it, Seanan's LJ has 29 vignettes of events leading up to the Rising that she calls Countdown. Worth reading.

It's been a while since I've read Deadline but I always stuck to the "Lisa killed herself" story. Hmmm now that you mention it, it would make sense if there was someone behind her death, especially since Rick was supposedly a hard-hitting journalist before and could have possibly been on the verge of discovering something about KA.

Onto your second question... I wouldn't be surprised if Georgia's birth mother amplified during childbirth and that's how Georgia got retinal KA. I can't remember, but was the senator's wife's retinal KA ever explained? I need to reread the book but I let one of my friends borrow it. :/

I believe the answer to the origin of Georgia's retinal KA is answered in Countdown (At least I think it is - a lot of origins are explained in that novella, but I can't remember if that one in particular is covered.) Worth a read before Blackout.

I know, I love how the book brought up questions I hadn't even thought to ask, forget the questions it left me with in the first place!

Like--to avoid spoilers I'll leave out the name--the big villian of book one being so obvious. In Feed, I just figured the author wasn't a very good mystery writer. Now, with Deadline, it turns out that was planned all along and part of a bigger conspiracy.

I feel like the kid whose parents fooled her into thinking she'd have a boring birthday to hide the puppy they really planned to give her! *laugh*
