Good timing! I just started reading a Mafia Crime novel!!! It's called For Nothing.
So far, so good! :)

Because I will be doing a lot of these, I'm going to put them here instead of starting a new topic for each one. The first is of the first of the Constable Evans mysterie
Evans Above

Evans Above is a cozy Welsh village mystery with humor and hints of romance. It has elements of a police procedural and the art of detection but falls somewhat short in these aspects. Nevertheless, while slight it is quite entertaining.

Think of a Number

Think of a Number is an amazing debut novel that succeeds on many levels. It is one of the best, most original, puzzle mysteries I’ve read. It is also a first class police procedural and suspense story. To top it all off, there is the story of the relationship of the protagonist retired detective and his wife. He is brilliant, rational, compulsive, analytical and obsessed about solving challenging criminal cases. His wife is highly intelligent, intuitive, spontaneous, caring and passionate about ideas and honesty. They are both scarred by a family tragedy, he perhaps more than she. He is aware of his nature and appreciative of her attempt to help him become less detached yet obsessive. At the same time he’s irritated and resentful of the passive aggressive way she sometimes attempts to manipulate him. Characters are brought to life with sure, deft strokes and bring richness to this terrific book.

Rani, a young journalist, visits her mother’s native village Rampur, to reconnect with her estranged aunt’s family. Beneath the peaceful facade of the rural landscape, lies political intrigue, danger, and even murder. Can Rani uncover the dark secrets that lie hidden in her ancestral home in time to save those dear to her?
