I also have too many to get to to be buying any anytime soon... odd though that once you have 'that' book the urgency to read it fades a bit, so you get another, and another. I have a couple of years worth to catch up with!
I inherited a couple of dozen book from an American friend of mine who just moved back to Virginia. I've read The Death of Bunny Munro and I've just finished Outer Dark. I'm looking forward to reading The Border Trilogy: All the Pretty Horses / The Crossing / Cities of the Plain and As I Lay Dying.
I promised myself that I was not going to buy anything until I was done with a couple of my books... I have about 20, must reads. Although I do have more. But, went with my son and ended up buying:The Finkler QuestionThe Hare with Amber Eyes A Family's Century of Art and LossThe Glass Room and two others for my son.I have already started The hare with Amber eyes...

Yeah... and it's not like I don't want to read them, I do! Resistance is futile though, I know that. Time (though with audiobooks I can read nearly constantly) is the problem ... or we need a lull on publishing till we catch up! Yeah, that would go down well, not! LOL
The True Confessions of a Part Time Indian by Sherman Alexie based on the author's real life experiences being a student in an all white school and in which the only other Indian in town was "the school mascot." Not as good as his "Reservation Blues," but still told well.

I read The glass Room about 2 years ago and really enjoyed it, which is a lot more than i can say about The Finkler Question. I struggled to finish it and i only persevered because it was the local book club's choice.
I ordered a good few books from The Book Depository last week and half of them arrived today :

.I have been struggling to read
, i keep putting it down and starting something else. It's not as good as previous books i have read by her and needless to say it is not capturing my attention (have started and finished 7 books in the meantime lol) I promised myself yesterday i wouldn't start anything else until i finished it, but i'm so tempted now lol.
Oh! I have The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time to read and forgot about it! Also, I like the look/title of The Solitude of Prime Numbers I must investigate that one :)Hmm, I was going to look out another book I heard about here in GI.... I'd forgotten. I love looking up new books and making TBR lists!

Nothing! Absolutely nothing, this week.
It's probably the first week this year where I haven't brought any new books home.

like others my self imposed book buying ban isn't working.
I just bought ML's 1916. I'm really rarin' to go, but my nook is waiting for a new charger, so I'll bide. I just finished a neat book about the American Indian prophet Wovoka -- it's called The Woodcutter by Steve Bartolomew. I've read a few of his and really enjoyed every one, plus they're not too long for a single sit-down read.
I passed a bookstore that was having a closing down sale today and got the following:Ten Big Ones by Janet Evanovich
Sealed Letter by Emma Donoghue
Last Night in Twisted River by John Irving
The Woman He Loved Before by Dorothy Koomson
Girl in the Woods by Jennifer McMahon
Midwife on Call: Tales of Tiny Miracles by Agnes Light
A Is For Alibi and B is for Burglar by Sue Grafton
Cloud Atlas, David Mitchell and from second hand book shop browsing .. diary of Anne Frank and a Keats collection.
QUIET: The power of introverts in a world that can't stop talking. By Susan Clarke. Hoping it will telll Me that introverts are the best thing since sliced bread and that we're just about to take over the world. Also bought Alison Moore's The Lighthouse. Great to see fiction from small publisher get recognition.
Postman just brought The Heroes by Joe Abercrombie. I've read his Best Served Cold which was very well written if extremely dark, so I'm hoping for good things from this one.

have heard/seen this book mentioned in a few places now , i must seek it out ...
Lynda wrote: "Deirdre wrote: "QUIET: The power of introverts in a world that can't stop talking. By Susan Clarke. LOL! Excellent point, Dierdre. No, taking over the world requires a very peculiar pathology that needs to be in a display box.

I have gone on a book acquiring jag and several books arrived either by mail or via me carrying them in. After my visit earlier this month to the Shetlands, I wanted to reread Ann Cleeves Shetland Quartet mysteries. Two arrived today:Blue Lightning and Red Bones. but I want to reread them in order so I will have to wait for the other two to get here. A huge art book arrived The Art of Knitting: Inspirational Stitches, Textures and Surfaces which was recommended by an artist in the Shetlands as one of two must-have fiber books. Also today in the mail I got The Cold Eye of Heaven by Christine Dwyer Hickey. To add to my piles I visited my local independent bookstore this week. On Tuesday I brought home This Is How You Lose Her by Junot Diaz (already read it in 2 days) and The Baker's Daughter by Sarah McCoy which I am currently reading. On my visit today I picked up The Reluctant Fundamentalist as a remainder book for only $5.98. In the spirit of Halloween, I bought 4 young adult novels The Last Dragonslayer by Jasper Fforde, and three by Susan Cooper Over Sea, Under Stone, The Dark Is Rising and Greenwitch. To balance bringing in these books I mailed out 9 books through Paperback Swap.

She really brought the isolated experience of living on those islands alive.
She has a new book featuring the Shetlands and Detective Jimmy Perez coming out in January titled Dead Water.Look up her website for more info - not sure how to do the html for the URL here.
