Renin was on a trail going towards a near by lake. He finally found it and cupped some water in his hands to drink.

Querida watched him from a nearby tree.

After taking a long drink Renin took a look around. "This should be far enough for now" He said to himself

Querida just stood there leaning against the tree.

Renin heard movement and turned to see a girl. He wasn't sure if he should go over but decided to anyway. "Hello" he said to her

She smiled. "Hi."

"I'm Renin" He said putting out his hand for her to shake

She shook his hand gently. "I'm Querdia."

"Nice to meet you. May I ask what you are doing out here?" He asked

"I live out here."

"Oh" Renin said surprised. "Not exactly the safest place to live"

She shook her head. "No," she cocked her head to the side. "What are you doing out here?"

"Taking a rest. I've been ...traveling for awhile." Renin said adjusting the bow on his back

"Where are you headed?"

"Far from here." Renin said thinking of how far he had to go

"I'll come with you," she said looking him the eye.

"Thats sweet but where I'm going is going to dangerous" Renin said looking back at her. "I wouldn't want you to get hurt"

She walked in front of him. "Yeah, I'm all for it."

"So you are ready to risk death?" Renin said with a steely look in his eyes

"I don't have anything else to lose..."

Renin sighed "Fine then you can come"

Querida smiled. "Great."

"So before we head off, what are your gifts?" Renin asked. If shes coming I need to know what she's capable of

"Um, anything to do with the cold."

"That could be helpful"

Querida nodded. "I hope so. What can you do?"

"I can talk to animals and control them" Renin stated

Querida smiled. "Sounds cool."

Renin nodded "So are you ready to go?"

She nodded. "Ready as I'll ever be."

"Great" Renin said starting to walk away from the lake

Querida followed a few paces behind him.

"So what did you mean when you said you had nothing to lose" Renin asked while they walked

"Oh, that? Nothing, I just live alone, so I really don't have anything to lose."

"No family?"

She shook her head. "Just me."

"Thats to bad" Renin said honestly

Querida looked at him. "What about you?"

"My parents have since passed." Renin began. "My other older relatives live far off from here in seclusion. Now I only have my little sister." His throat caught on the last words."She is the reason I am making this quest"

"Are you ok?" she asked, she didn't know what it was like to have a cibling, but she felt for him.

"Yes" He said quickly wiping his face with the back off his hand. He tried to pull himself together.

Querida bit her lip and looked straight ahead not wanting to ask something else and have this happen again.

"She was taken by dwarfs"Renin continued. "Thats where I'm heading. Well I guess where we are heading"

"I'm sorry." she said still not wanting to look at him, just in case.

Renin looked at her"It's ok. I will save her and everything will be fine" He said with determination and no sadness in his voice

She looked him and smiled. Wow, she thought, I love the color of his eyes.

Renin smiled at herMaybe a companion on my journey won't be that bad. She is...niceHe thought looking away from her and adjusting his bow again.

"Is the bow your item?"

Renin took off the bow. "Yes it is"
