Ophelia discussion

Ophelia's side of the story completely goes with the actual play hamlet. The part after she is buried is where Lisa Klein's imagination goes wild. She makes it interesting and passionate. It makes sense and it just kpt me interested. What's your opinion on how this story played out?

I am almost through with the book, and so far I love it. You are right about this book coinsiding with Hamlet. I reread Hamlet to see if this book did indeed go along with the play, and to my surprise it did. I love how, while Shakespeare never outright said Hamlet and Ophelia got married, there is a little hint of that in the play, and that Klein jumped on it and wrote a whole different version. I love how Klein made Ophelia's madness look like it was planned, just like Hamlet's madness. Above all, I love how Ophelia conquers all (so far). I really want Horatio to come back though!

Love, love, loved this book. Ophelia isn't portrayed as the weak woman, but the strong minded, and smart girl that finds a way to live free from the bonds that Hamlet seems to inflict on her. She deserved Horatio at the end.

Exactly!! This book was fantastic... I think the author really wanted to show that it was Ophelia's choice to do and be who she as. :)

I second your opinion. Although I don't usually like authors you take other author's works and change them to suit themselves, I really liked how the author weaved her view without it being tacky or unbelievable.
I kinda liked this version of the ending better and it coincided with Hamlet wonderfully.

Yeah, but it was only a good version, because it kept the facts the same. It just had different explanations.

Umm yeah, I meant as in Hamlet the ending was sad but i liked this ending better cause it was happier.

Loved Ophelia! But the part where Hamlet dies is so sad.

I thought this was fantastic and I have the other's she's written on my to-read list. Anyone checked out her other work? I'm wondering if they are equally as powerful?

There's other versions of Ophelia? I would like to check them out to. I just finished reading Hamlet's version and its heartbreaking. They are probably powerful because its such a fascinating story.

I seriously forgot that she was That Ophelia a few times, the story is just so original and engaging all on its own. Love Lisa Klein's version!
