I will not be back, but once the ban is up (next week) I plan to tell Alex exactly what the issue is and I expect to be permanently banned at that point.

RockdaMan is a f'n troll and I was banned twice for pointing that out. (though it wasn't just me this time I suspect but can't verify that several others were banned as well) The mods sided with him apparently. So be it. If that is the kind of site Alex wants, that's the kind of site he'll get.

I will miss you Kenny and I know others will too! Rockdaman is also suspended and looking at his threads you're right. Good luck and hopefully we'll meet on other boards.

I've looked at several threads and I must say he makes my blood boil. I also saw, just like you said, that other people posting in those threads are also suspended. IMHO he is much more to blame than any of you who are reacting. At least you started to answer sincerely and not because you're trolls!

I'm glad I'm neither an Android or Apple user because those types of people would make me quit visiting the forum.

I was suspended together with kenny for the same reason, and when I went back after the week suspension, I wrote to Alex explaining the issue. He is aware of it, but today the Android part of the forum is again full of the rubbish Rockdaman is posting there so obviously apart from us nobody cares..... I will be back at MR because I do not see why I should be the one going, and I enjoy the german part of the forum, but I am bitterly disappointed about the way things are handled from a moderation point of view.

I've had two messages from Rockdaman asking to "just get along" I told him flat out he was a troll and should be banned permanently. And no, no truce.

It's that I don't follow the Android forum but looking at his posts he doesn't add anything to the discussion. He either posts things on sale (shouldn't those go in the Deals forum?) or he quotes little snippets but doesn't add anything/much to it to start a good discussion. I have to agree with both of you that he's a troll and he's the one that should go.

Looks like rockdaman has been banned. Don't know if it's permanent or temporary, but it's a good thing and an encouraging sign that perhaps someone figured something out.

Hey Hazel, I'm here, I'm there as well, but am more-or less staying away with a few exceptions. I got my Kindle Fire last week and LOVE it! So have posted a few comments in that section. Also I've taken on a moderator position at another forum that is taking up some time. Here I'm active in the "Constant Reader" short story group and the Science and Inquiry group..

I got threatened with a ban yesterday for calling a troll a troll. And then doing it again 10 seconds after a mod deleted my post and gave me a warning. Alas no martyrdom for me, my complaint about the content of the posts I called trolling is being looked at.

Some days it just isn't worth it to be rebellious, I must be getting old.

You Go IP! That's my biggest complaint about the way they run the show there. They let the trolls control things and punish those who point them out.

The way I see it, if someone's trolling the mods can either do something about it or let other people reply in kind. But moderating one and not the other is just hypocrisy. I'll follow consistent rules but if someone does something without punishment, I expect to be left alone if I do the same.

I'm not sure it'll do any good, but I'll stick my oar into this debate.

If someone posts in a way that you think is against the rules, report it to the mods. If it's a pattern of behaviour over several posts rather than an individual post, get together a list if links to the offending posts, and report them like that.

That's the only way to get the result you desire at MobileRead. Making accusations of bad behaviour in open forum will not work.

Except that I spent the last two years doing exactly that and the Trolls were allowed to run rough-shod over other posters. When it is pointed out that a poster is a troll the one that is jumped on is not the troll but the one pointing it out.

Well Guess what. I've been banned again after being attacked by an idiot in the Kindle Fire upgrade thread, because the moderators are so stupid they can't even tell the difference in someone that cares and someone that is an asshole. So f' em! everyone.

That's because it's not a debate Paul, It's about proper behavior, not on the part of members but on the part of moderators that have no clue, no training, no understanding of what it is they are doing. You can't just take on a moderator role without an understanding of human behavior and how to understand and manage it and most of the moderators there have no clue, that is the real issue.

Doesn't matter at this point, it's been almost 2 months since I visited there, site could be shut down for all I know.
