Lyla had walked to the beach again. It was darkish. Twilight was growing closer. She had snuck out after she locked herself in her room and she was sure he was passed out. She wasn't aware of the bruise turning black and blue on her cheek in the shape of hand from his most recent blows. She curled her knees into her chest as the sun fell into the horizon's clutches stealing the dazzling colors and light.

Lyla kept to her feet at the sound of another person's voice. "Ummm. I'm fine. I didn't mean to be a bother. I-I'll just go." Lyla's voice was soft slightly panicky. She began to turn to leave.

message 3: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Duff ((Is third person not a requirement? I'm just confused.))

message 4: by Catie (new)

Catie | 490 comments Mod
((It is I just am so used to her doing it I forgotto say THIRD PERSON!))

Lyla flinched as she grabbed her arm but then relaxed Just talking. You're fine She thought to herself. "Lyla." She said quietly looking at her feet.

message 5: by Catie (new)

Catie | 490 comments Mod
((I don't care. You are going to have more than one character most likey and that means 3rd person.))

"Watching. Thinking." Lyla said Hiding she added mentally

message 6: by Catie (new)

Catie | 490 comments Mod
((So you don't want Bella?))

"Thinking about my mom." she said in a near whisper biting her lip as she played with her necklace.

message 7: by Catie (new)

Catie | 490 comments Mod
((THIRD PERSON!))

"Lucy or Lucyndia Montgomery. She was a doctor." Lyla explained

message 8: by Catie (new)

Catie | 490 comments Mod
"Why are you?" Lyla shot back. "Why not? If you only came out in the light can you imagine how much you would miss?" She pointed up at some of the emerging stars "You can see Hydra and Mensa tonight." She blushed "I'm talking too much. Sorry."

message 9: by Catie (new)

Catie | 490 comments Mod
"Age is just a number." Lyla said

message 10: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Duff Christopher was crouching low in the branches of a tree, just outside the reservation. He listened intently to their conversation, hoping the girl would stop talking to the wolf girl and walk in his direction. In his pocket were a sketch of Samuel that he always carried around, as well as a box of brown colored contacts. He would put them in once she started towards him, if she did.

message 11: by Catie (new)

Catie | 490 comments Mod
Lyla noticed her sudden change. She scooted a bit away. "What's wrong?" she asked

message 12: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Duff Christopher let a low hiss escape his lips. Now the girl was scared, and what if Max told her not to walk this way? Pulling his lips up in a silent snarl, he stayed still.

message 13: by Catie (new)

Catie | 490 comments Mod
((Yeah I'm 25 minutes early. But she isn't coming))

Lyla figured now was a really good time to leave. She quickly stood up and brushed offer pants. "I have to go." She turned and started quickly walking away, towards Chris.

message 14: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Duff ((Did you talk to her or you're just making the call?))

Christopher was aroused as he heard, very clearly, small feet walking in his direction. He opened the contact box and put them in his eyes, and though they bugged the crap out of him he knew it would make the difference in whether or not she would trust him. He jumped down out of the tree and waited for her to walk a bit closer.
"Hello?"

message 15: by Catie (new)

Catie | 490 comments Mod
((Making the call. I know Maxpretty well from almost a year of cnearly daily rping))

Lyla flinched at the man's voice and froze. She blushed at her ridiculous display and out of nerves of being around another person. She gave a small smile and wave to him before speeding her walk just a bit.

message 16: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Duff "Whoa, hold up!" he called in a soft voice. "What are you afraid of?" He knew, of course, but he had hoped it wouldn't be so hard. Luckily he was still a little off to the side. "My name is Chris. What's yours?"

message 17: by Catie (new)

Catie | 490 comments Mod
Lyla suddenly began very interested in the ground. She spike in an even softer voice than she did with Max. "Lyla. I'm not supposed to talk to strangers."

message 18: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Duff "That's okay. Normally I would tell you the same. It sounds like your parents taught you well." He walked forward into the light. He was wearing jeans and a light green fitted t-shirt, and his dirty brown eyes were lit up. He smiled like a small boy. Suddenly he frowned and stepped a little bit closer, acting surprised. "Lyla, why is there a bruise on your face?"

message 19: by Catie (new)

Catie | 490 comments Mod
"I fell." Lyla lied easily "I'm clumsy."

message 20: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Duff "That would make it a cut. There's no blood, just bruises." He stepped closer again and reached his hand out to touch her cheek, the small bruise on the edge of her jaw. He rested his cold hand there. "That feel better?" He was fully prepared for her to jump away.

message 21: by Catie (new)

Catie | 490 comments Mod
Which was exactly what Lyla did. She hardly knew this man and he was touching her. It didn't matter that his ice cold hand had diminished the pain for that one quick second. Her heart beat and breath picked up the pace a bit responding to nerves and fear "I sh-should be getting home." she stuttered out.

message 22: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Duff He stood and backed up, his hands up in surrender. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have touched you." His voice was perfectly genuine and gentle. He kneeled down about four feet in front of her. "But Lyla, you really shouldn't be having to live the way you do."

message 23: by Catie (new)

Catie | 490 comments Mod
That froze Lyla to the spot. "What do you mean?" What did he know? Daddy wouldn't of been happy if she had exposed him.

message 24: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Duff "Lyla, there are agencies set up for children like you, who are constantly living in fear." He didn't move forward any more in fear of scaring her but he did sit down on his butt like he was planning to stay a while. "Or you should be able to talk to a friend. But you should never, ever have to be so used to covering up why you're hurt and terrified."

message 25: by Catie (new)

Catie | 490 comments Mod
"I-I-I don't know what you're talking about." Lyla said automatically as she granting tied to think of a way out of this situation.

message 26: by Kayla (last edited Jul 30, 2011 09:08PM) (new)

Kayla Duff His voice, though still soft, became much more firm. "Yes you do, Lyla." He reached a hand out towards her, but it she felt comfortable she could close the distance between them. "I won't tell if you don't want me to, Lyla. But if you ever need someone to talk to..."

((I think it'd be a cool addition if she ended up kind of having a crush on him... And that's how she could find out he's gay.))

message 27: by Catie (new)

Catie | 490 comments Mod
Lyla quicly shook her head back and forth. "I don't know. I don't." she could feel tears welling in her eyes as she took a small step back.

message 28: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Duff "Lyla... I don't want anyone to have to be afraid in their own house." His voice stayed firm. "When I was a child, my parents sent me across seas to a boarding school. I was miserable, and none of the other kids were nice to me." He looked down, hoping the contacts hadn't begun disolving yet. "I want you to be happy."

message 29: by Catie (new)

Catie | 490 comments Mod
"I ne-. I have t-." Lyla tugged on her ear a habit she did when she was overwhelmed. She couldn't form a coherent thought right now. All she could think of was what in the catalog of all thinks he would do to her, what would he pick when he found out someone knew.

message 30: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Duff Chris could see that she was becoming panicky. "Lyla, listen to me." He stared at her firmly, wishing her to keep her eyes on him. "I will not tell anyone if you don't want me to. If you need an escape, you just wait right here and I will come to your aide."

message 31: by Catie (new)

Catie | 490 comments Mod
Lyla attempted to relax. That was kinda hard and all when a boy she had just met knew her darkest secret. Supossivly won't tell anyone. And they says he is basically her own personal superman. Way too much for her to handle. So Lyla preforms her last case senerio. She runs for it.

message 32: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Duff Chris didn't want to give her a bad impression. He ran after her and managed to get in front of her. "Lyla stop! I will never hurt you, but I want you to trust me." He didn't touch her - he simply stood there with his hand outstretched. She was trying his patience - it was taking most of his concentration to not attack her.

message 33: by Catie (new)

Catie | 490 comments Mod
Lyla's tears that have bern threatening to overflow finally have. "I hardly know you. I barley met you 5 minutes ago. You know my darkest secret and I don't know how and you expect me to just trust you? I can't do that." Lyla plopped on the ground "Why are you doing this?"

message 34: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Duff ((Uhm... Thoughts on message 34?))

"I am doing this because I know how you feel." He did not move any closer. "But I am happy to have gained enough trust that you are sitting next to me." He reached out his hand again. "I know that I may be a little more forward than you are used to, but I think you need a friend and we have more in common than you'd like to think."

message 35: by Catie (new)

Catie | 490 comments Mod
((WHOA! I didn't see that. Maybe. I don't know. Right now I'm still figuring Lyla out and IDK if she would want to do that.))

Lyla wiped away her tears. "I'm fine with out a friend. I've survived this long with out one."

((I didn't plan on her saying that but she spoke! And you don't want to overrule what your cherries wanna do.))

message 36: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Duff ((That's fine. Just a suggestion. :P))

((I know how that feels!))

"But you're not enjoying your life. You're not getting to enjoy any of it - you are too scared." He sighed. "I think you'd enjoy talking to someone, and I'd like to talk to you." He smiled. "My name is Chris Damaur and I'm nineteen."

message 37: by Catie (new)

Catie | 490 comments Mod
Lyla didn't awnser. Silence was all she could manage at this point.

message 38: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Duff "I'm a gentleman. I was born in London and sent here as a child, and I've always been the odd one out. I've never been in a relationship and my beat friend is dead." He looked at her gently. "I'd say we both need some help."

message 39: by Catie (new)

Catie | 490 comments Mod
"Everyone feels like an oddball sometimes. And I'm sorry about your friend but I've got things figured out. I don't know why you decided to pop into my life now but I suggest you get out again. I've got things under control."

message 40: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Duff "I want you to stop fooling around." His voice took on a confused quality. "He could kill you if he wanted to, Lyla. He could take you out with one stroke. Why don't you find some help?" He sighed. "We won't talk about this anymore, fine. But if we're going to be friends, like I'd like to be, I need to know you." He shook his head. "Because maybe you don't think you need me, but I could really use someone like you to be around."

message 41: by Catie (new)

Catie | 490 comments Mod
"My name is Lyla Justice Montgomery. I'm 10. And I need to start home so my father doesn't knowIwent out." Lyla stood up and dusted herself off before starting towards her house.

message 42: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Duff "Lyla, will you come back and talk to me again?" he called hopefully. "I'll be right here, always."

message 43: by Catie (new)

Catie | 490 comments Mod
Lyla shrugged. "I don't make desisions in advance. I like more spur of the moment."

message 44: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Duff Chris sighed. "Well, Lyla, I hope to see you again." It was best that she was leaving - his throat was burning like fire and he was certain the contacts had begun dissolving.

message 45: by Catie (new)

Catie | 490 comments Mod
Lyla started to walk away and then turned remembering something "How did you find out? How did you know what he does at home?"

message 46: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Duff Chris shook his head sadly. "I've been through, this, Lyla. I can pick up on the signs." I wait by your window every night, watching over you. Every time he hurts you it kills me. I'm not in love with you for obvious reasons but I want to love you like a sister. "I'm not stalking you, I promise. Come meet me again... We'll talk more."

message 47: by Catie (new)

Catie | 490 comments Mod
Lyla looked at him strangely. "You do realize that you are the only person who has picked up on them?"

message 48: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Duff "When you push people you automatically tell people, 'I want to be alone.' So they leave you alone. But I guarantee that even though it has not been mentioned, anyone you know wonders if you are really as clumsy as you say." He smiled sadly. "And I have had quite a while to learn to be observant."

message 49: by Catie (new)

Catie | 490 comments Mod
Lyla rolled her eyes."Sure. I'll pretend 19 is a very long time to be observant." She shook her head "Bye." And then she started to run the 2.7 miles back to her house.

message 50: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Duff Chris sighed. He hoped she would come back, but once she was far enough away he nearly clawed the contacts out of his eyes and let out a relieved hiss. "When will I be able to turn you...?" he asked. He jumped the 20 feet up into the tree and then began bouncing from limb to limb, following her home like he always did.
