I agree Amy. I had been really excited to read this book since I saw the amazing cover and read the basic storyline. Once I started reading I realized it wasn't what I expected. I wish it had focused more on Amelia and obstacles/family discoveries she would face as a ghost.(view spoiler)[instead of just focusing on Joshua and their instant love for each other. Also I wish Ruth's character was explained a bit more. It would have been nice to know why she thinks all ghosts who stick around are evil. (hide spoiler)]

I just finished the last book in the trilogy. (view spoiler)[ I liked it well enough. More or less. I mostly skimmed the last 10 chapters. I don't understand Ruth's death. Or what she was trying to accomplish. It all seemed pretty pointless. I do wish that if she had to go the epilogue route she would have done what Cassandra Clare did at the end of the Clockwork Angels trilogy. (view spoiler)[ When Tessa married Will and the epilogue tells you that they had an amazing life together and years after he died a cure was found for Jems disease and he left the Silent Brothers and went and traveled the world with Tessa. (hide spoiler)] I would have wanted something like that for Joshua and Amelia. The book ending one long life time later (it would have felt like seconds to Amelia) and then he's with her again. He tells her about his life. How he did have a nice long life, how he got married and had kids but he never stopped loving her (but he did love his wife) and the book fades out on them talking about them spending their eternity together. I think I mostly skimmed the last few chapters because I was disappointed that we didn't have an ending like that. Or like (view spoiler)[ In the Sleepy Hollow series by Jessica Verday when the series ended with the girl finding a way to change places with her best friend so that it was her instead of the friend who had died years before so that she could spend her eternity with her boy. (hide spoiler)] I think that that is my problem with ghost love stories. There's no real way for the couple to end up together and if they don't end up together in the end I feel gipped out of 3 (or however many) books. Give me my happy endings dang it!
