I got to say that the House of Night series is one of my personal favorites. I just love Zoey and her gang of Nerd Herd but i feel like PC cast is dragging it on to the point where she's losing readers. i'm still reading them but what book is she on now??- like the 7th one??- and all the books and plots are starting to blend together. does anyone else feel this way? or is it just me?

book 8 i think and i complety agree i read them because the story line is great but i found it hard to read awakened
I've only read book one but from what I've read from reviews, the series starts to drag after a while. I read what each book was about and based on this plus reviews and comments from friends about the series, I'm questioning if I want to bother with it at all. We'll see if I read it. I have too many other books to read that are amazing so I'm not sure if I'll waste my time.
I'm in Kimi's boat. I've only read up to book five Hunted so where I'm at it doesn't feel like that completely, but the reviews I've seen about the other books worry me.
The only thing that I feel is dragging on at this point is the whole love triangle/diamond situation. I hate that Zoey keeps stringing Eric along.

you dnt have to worry about that Crystal for much longer, but she finds herself in another love triangle,

I know first it was Heath, Erik, and Loren. Now it's Heath, Erik, and Stark. It's like she's always going to be stuck in some kind of romantic tangle.

Anyone know if the next book will be the end of the series?I really love the plot of house of night series but I think the series needs closure.
Yeah I could sense that something like that was always going to be going on. In her case its not even a love triangle. Its a love square or something. It sounded boring to me. That's what I love about Morganville Vampires. There's romantic aspects but overall the books are about what goes on in Morganville. That's the whole plot and its awesome. If you haven't read Morganville you all should read it.

After I read the fourth book, I saw in the back of the book that there were at least four more books, and the eighth still had Kalona in it. Now I find it hard to keep reading while I know that they aren't really going to get rid of him.

See these are the reasons why I refuse to read another one of these books. I'll stick with Morganville and then move on to Black Dagger Brotherhood and Chicagoland. =) I don't like to suffer through series.

No, the series has 12 books in all, but that's not including all the books that she writes on the side, like the book that just came out. i think it was something about Dragon, the fencing teacher.

I'm with Kimi, i'm just going to push the House of Night books away and start a new series.

I love the Morganvillle vampires!! I read all of the house of night. In everybook Zoey has a new boyfriend, she is fighting with someone and someone dies. They need some new bad guys!!
its like she always gets a chance to kill Neferet but doesnt, thats what gets me and yh kolona is annoying
I looove House of Night and am happy that the series is continuing ( I especially want to see what happens to Heath's character after book 8) I'm pretty into the novellas right now just for the fact that it gives you more insight into the other characters which I definitely needed =)
I love the characters, and zoey but I'm tried of having to keep up with all the plots. Pc cast and her daughter are great writers but -please- come up with a new, shorter, series :)
i love the series and dont think its dragged out. i think that the number of books makes it seem that way, but if you really look at the timeline in the book, its only been like less than 6 months at the end of the last book. some of the plot lines are annoying but you cant have a good book without some parts being bad. thats how you get people to talk! and i think i saw somewhere that there are going to be like 12 books. ill keep reading. and i hope that zoey will pick a love interest soon!!!!! the book needs a lil SEXing up!!!!

It's not about the timeline for me. I just feel like some of the books could be complied into one whole book.

The plot of the series is great. However, after the first 4 books I was getting annoyed with somethings. Like one: describing what the characters look like in every book. I say after book 2... we get it. Especially with describing the twins skin color all the time. It comes off kind of racist. By book 5 the author finally got it and didn't do it anymore. Two: the love drama was too much for me. I don't mind a little but the love drama in this series was extensive. Other than that its a good series. It does sort of seem like its dragging on just because the number of books there are .
YES IT"S DRAGGING ON.I've quit all together... I'm so glad all of you are so willing to keep up with the series.
I know Burned for sure could have been combined with Awakening etc. Overall I'm done.
So first book was awsome, second really good but 8 and 9 please... For me it was too much!! I think i`m done with this series. :(

I LOVE THE HOUSE OF NIGHT SERIES!!! always had a soft spot for HEATH. I really dont think the series is dragging on. IF ANYTHING i think the books get better as they progress. I'm dying to read the next book where heath comes back!!! the few downsides to the series are how the author repeatedly restates and reintroduces each character. its not like someone is going to randomly pick up the sixth book and read it without reading the others first. Aside from that it was definitely a worthwhile series!!!

The next one I need to read is the 6th, and I need some encouragement. From what alot of people have said, I'm really worried the series will begin to really bore me. Why do you think I should read it Zayna?

So I just finished the latests book and was thinking it was dragging on just a bit. This one had that feel until the end, where I ended up balling like a baby!!! I do think some of the books could be combined. I still enjoyed the series.
Although "Destined" was better than the last few installments, YES, I feel as though the series is dragging. For instance, the last 3 books have only covered a few days in the life....*sigh*....9 books and most cover a total timeline of about a week or so....
I was hooked onto the books last year..and then I got bored of it because I felt like it dragged on. Recently I had a week off school. So I re-read all the books again and now I'm hooked AGAIN... *sigh*
I definitely feel like it's dragging on. I'm a huge fan because as a Wiccan, it's nice to read something so closely linked with my religion. But it was getting quite hard to keep on reading. I think Awakened started getting a little less monotonous and a little easier to read. I have a feeling it's getting better again. At least I hope so.
I couldn't even master enough interest in this book to finish the 3rd one and Zoey disgusts me she's not the type of heroine I'd want for any bookBTW I really like the first book of HON but then there just wasn't enough plot to capture my interest

Im not much of a Stark fan but Zoey does settle her guy problems and the books dont always have a love triangle. They really do get more and more interesting and im sure you'll be hooked after you read a little more :)

I agree that the series is getting kind of dragging. I think it should have ended when they beat Kalona. There are way too many major events happening. It gets kind of boring.
Definitely dragging on..... for me it should have ended in awakened Zoey could have finished Kalona and Neferet then. And I just wanna mention although this book really pissed the sh*t out of me, I still liked some of the characters like Stevie Rae, Aphrodite and Stark ( I like him but he did not click to me if that makes sense, I felt like he was just chucked in to the story when Eric was being a jerk to Zoey)
I don't waste my limited reading time with them anymore. I think I purchased burned (where Stark was going to get Zoey back) but found there were too many other, more interesting books out there to read.
I guess Im a masochist :)). Ive finished all 8 but I have to admit I skipped a lot of pages. I was like... okay okay flip wtf? you've already said that, like in every book... okay flip flip again with the repetition so i flipped again... Oh Zoey's flirting, flip flip and more flips Zoey's complaining about her life and responsibilities...... Yeah so I just "fast forward"
I honestly thought the whole concept was amazing but the fact that Zoey kept having love triangles and could never just stay with one guy REALLY bugged me. So much so that I refused to read past the third book.
I actually really loved these books when I got into them. It took me a little while to get through the first book, but then once I did, I got hooked on the characters. (I adore stevie rae!) but anyway! Unfortunately, it does pain me to say that the series is starting to drag. The characters themselves have stopped growing and changing in new, interesting ways. Instead, we just have the characters we all know - and now they are just following out the natural end of the story... but it makes it feel like Cast is just trying to finish the story, rather than really sculpt a beautiful ending for these characters.
I absolutely devoured the first six books of this series... I've now gotten to Awakened - but sadly, it has been sitting half finished on my shelf for a LONG time because there is just no longer anything drawing me back to it :(
