Shayla (shaylaalexander) Any?

message 2: by Shayla (new)

Shayla (shaylaalexander) We will! Once we have more members...invite people!

message 3: by Shayla (new)

Shayla (shaylaalexander) I have to go to bed too, bye!

Iviana (The Sign Painter) Mʘ‿ʘP (thesignpainter) There should be a folder with topics for discussions about poets. Like Ellen Hopkins and e.e. cummings and T.S. Elliot and people like that.

message 5: by Shayla (new)

Shayla (shaylaalexander) I was going to get to that. If you'd like to do that tonight, Ivi, I could make you mod so you could do so.

Iviana (The Sign Painter) Mʘ‿ʘP (thesignpainter) Sure. I don't have anything to do right now, so yeah. I'll remove myself when I'm done.

message 7: by Shayla (new)

Shayla (shaylaalexander) Okay, thank you. You're a big help.

Iviana (The Sign Painter) Mʘ‿ʘP (thesignpainter) 'Course.

What about a folder for people to talk about poetry they hate? Not to bash on other members, but maybe published poets who they just don't like? *coughcoughcough*

message 10: by Maggie (new)

Maggie (maggie-swift) | 139 comments Mod
Oh, no... my mind's doing that thing where a word looks wrong... cough is spelled like that, right?

message 11: by Shayla (new)

Shayla (shaylaalexander) Right, Maggie.

message 12: by Maggie (new)

Maggie (maggie-swift) | 139 comments Mod
Haha, thanks.

message 13: by Shayla (new)

Shayla (shaylaalexander) Should I make writing competitions?

Iviana (The Sign Painter) Mʘ‿ʘP (thesignpainter) Yes, I think you should.

message 15: by Shayla (new)

Shayla (shaylaalexander) Okay, I will then.

message 16: by Shayla (new)

Shayla (shaylaalexander) Any suggestions for the next contest?

message 17: by Maryam (last edited Aug 28, 2011 07:58PM) (new)

Maryam | 66 comments Ummm, what about a one word contest. Like you come up with one word and everyone has to make a poem out of that word.

message 18: by Shayla (new)

Shayla (shaylaalexander) Good idea. Or one topic. Like a certain animal or something.

Or we could do a certain color. Or a season.

message 20: by Shayla (new)

Shayla (shaylaalexander) Smart, Maggie, smart. And also you get to help decide on the next contest. What should the topic be?

Iviana (The Sign Painter) Mʘ‿ʘP (thesignpainter) I feel like it shouldn't be so specific (colours or animals). I think it should be general ideas (seasons would work. Same with emotions-- which should not be 'love', because it's so cliched now.).

message 22: by Shayla (new)

Shayla (shaylaalexander) So not emotions of animals or colors?

Iviana (The Sign Painter) Mʘ‿ʘP (thesignpainter) I'm just putting in my two cents. If you want to do that, then that's fine.

message 24: by Shayla (new)

Shayla (shaylaalexander) I agree with you, though, Ivi. I think it would be too cliche.

Iviana (The Sign Painter) Mʘ‿ʘP (thesignpainter) It's fine, Shay. Emotions are fine. Love is just a cliche, so it's repetitive. Colors are fine, but just things that are specific like a dog or a cat are hard to manipulate.

. (onawhim) It seems a little kindergarten for me, dunno.

Maggie (maggie-swift) | 139 comments Mod
Or, we could get sorta abstractative (made up word, couldn't find one that fits what I mean)) and have everyone do one where the title starts with a certain letter (like, say, I or R).

message 28: by Shayla (new)

Shayla (shaylaalexander) Hmmm...you might be on to something, Maggie. I FOUND A WEBSITE WHERE IT PICKS A RANDOM LETTER FOR YOU! :DDDDD

message 29: by Shayla (new)

Shayla (shaylaalexander) I like Maggie's idea. Should we go with it?

message 30: by . (new)

. (onawhim) It's very open, but sure. Awesome.

message 31: by Shayla (new)

Shayla (shaylaalexander) We could do a certain topic that goes with that letter. Like an emotion that can't be simple or something along those lines...

message 32: by Maggie (new)

Maggie (maggie-swift) | 139 comments Mod
How to make it broad, yet with clear borders…

message 33: by Shayla (new)

Shayla (shaylaalexander) Huh?

message 34: by Ella (new)

Ella (ellarosewood) | 30 comments Make it broad, with loopholes is what I think she is trying to say.
Oh the ribbon is posted 3 times under pictures, you should probably delete 2.

Iviana (The Sign Painter) Mʘ‿ʘP (thesignpainter) . . . What emotion is simple? XD

message 36: by Shayla (new)

Shayla (shaylaalexander) Sad, happy, mad, annoyed....

Iviana (The Sign Painter) Mʘ‿ʘP (thesignpainter) Those are all a lot more complex than you think. ;)

message 38: by Shayla (new)

Shayla (shaylaalexander) Hmm...well I guess your right. Should we do a poetry competition where a random letter is chosen for each person and they choose an emotion that starts with that letter?

Iviana (The Sign Painter) Mʘ‿ʘP (thesignpainter) I don't really know, Shay. It's up to you.

message 40: by Shayla (new)

Shayla (shaylaalexander) OH! Another idea. Maybe we could right poetry on a word that nobody really knows, like tittle or logogogue or chit.

message 41: by . (new)

. (onawhim) ... xD

Or we make up a word. Like Jabberwocky.

message 43: by . (new)

. (onawhim) But that's already made up.

message 44: by Maggie (new)

Maggie (maggie-swift) | 139 comments Mod
No, I mean like the poem.

message 45: by Maggie (new)

Maggie (maggie-swift) | 139 comments Mod
I should italicize it…

message 46: by Shayla (new)

Shayla (shaylaalexander) So are we all in favor for the words that nobody knows the meanings of? The point of the poem would be to make it creative and to tell what the word means.

message 47: by . (new)

. (onawhim) xD OK.
