Let's write a story! (Current title The Object)
My knees are shaking. When they click together, a slight sound is made and it seems insanely loud.
Bullets pound into the wall next to me as the officer advances, expressionless. I keep getting hit by shrapnel from the brick.
I close my eyes and lift my hands to my heart, readying to pray. Sorry I stopped being faithful, I think to whatever deity resides above us. Please let me live. I've been a good girl.
"Ahh!" comes a shout from above. I whip around just in time to see Elsie land on a pile of trash beside me. We stare at each other with wide eyes for just a moment before I snap out of it.
"RUN!" I scream, grabbing her delicate hand and racing off.
"No!" She screams back. "I won't leave without you!"
((is the main character boy or girl?))
((is the main character boy or girl?))
"we have to get moving" i gasp"Tom, i think we made it away!" elsie puffed
we heard gunshots, elsie screamed and we ran.
Suddenly Jay stepped out from a graffitied building. "Hey guys!" he said, smiling. I grabbed his hand and yanked him around the corner.
"Hurry!" I said as gunshots rang out again. Suddenly Jay took charge.
"Follow me!" he commanded.
We rounded a corner, then another one. We were going around in circles, I realized. Suddenly he jerked us back the other way and took us toward the rich part of town. "Why're we going there?" I managed to gasp. Everybody there was filthy rich. They'd be sure to notice us there.
"Just trust me!" Jay yelled.
He led us up to one of the houses and started climbing the ivy that grew under a window. He climbed through the window.
Elsie gazed at me questioningly.
"What've we got to lose?" I replied to her unspoken question. I boosted her up toward the window so she could get good footing. Then I began climbing.
I slipped when I heard another gunshot, then started climbing faster than before.
I jumped into the window, landing on a hardwood floor.
The air was knocked out of me. I closed my eyes for a moment, wishing the pain away. Then I opened them and was shocked at what I saw around me.
The house was abnormal, or at least the room was, it contained black walls, and there were only black furniture inside of it.
"What is this place?" I whispered slowly getting up.
Elsie sighed, "Thank goodness you're awake!"
"What is this place?" I whispered slowly getting up.
Elsie sighed, "Thank goodness you're awake!"
"I was always awake!" I said, being shocked. Elsie looked shocked.
"No, you've been out for 3 days!" she said.
I closed my eyes. Maybe when I opened them, I'd wake up in the shed with Jay and Elsie and Joanne and Adam.
And everything was just a nightmare, the room, the officers going after us...but I opened, and there was Elsie, standing right next to me, her hand on my forehead.
"I'm alright! Just...worn out." I swayed on my feet and saw an unfamiliar face looking at me.
She looked away."Sit down! You're dead on your feet!" She suddenly barked.
She pushed me onto a bed.
Jay suddenly stood up from behind a seat. "Be careful, Lily."
So many questions. How did Jay know her? Where were we? Where was everyone else? How did the police know we were there?
"Will someone tell me what happened?" I begged.
"Elsie, what happened? Where are we? Where is everyone else?"
"Elsie, what happened? Where are we? Where is everyone else?"
"They're not de-" But I could see the hurt and truth in her eyes.
Elsie looked away. Then she whispered a quiet 'yes' and started crying. Jay hugged her, but I just stared off into space. They were dead. The people I had grown up with. My family. And I didn't have to ask how they died. I felt myself sinking into an abyss of grief, and I didn't want to come out of it. Because, I knew, that if I climbed out of the abyss, it would be official, my family was dead, and there was nothing I could do about it.
"Then who are they?" I asked nodding to the other four in the room.
"What do they have to do with us? The last thing I remember is-" Jay immediately clasped his hand over my mouth.
"Shut up, they don't know about us."
"Shut up, they don't know about us."
"How could they not know about us? We're right in the room-" but suddenly I realized what he was saying. They didn't know that we were outlaws. They didn't know anything about us! Ha!
"Do you still have-" I asked
Jay nodded.
Jay nodded.
Elsie reached her hand into her pocket, "Cari wanted me to give you this."
"Cari." I breathed. She was dead too. Suddenly it didn't matter. It wasn't worth it, it wasn't, it wasn't, it wasn't! Cari was dead! Dead! Never coming back!"Cari. Cari. Cari! Cari! CARI! CARI!!!" I shouted again and again, this time getting angry, not depressed. "CARI!!!" I shouted, one long note that conveyed all my grief and rage. "CARI!!!" I shouted again. I didn't even notice the object in Elsie's hand until I fell down, crying, screaming, sobbing.
It was a note. I recognized Cari's handwriting. I ran my finger over her signature, quietly sobbing.
((main character's a guy right?))
"Tom." Jay said quietly. He slipped his arm over my shoulder and steered me into the hall. I sunk down."Tom." Jay said again. "Tom...may I read it?"
Read it? Oh, the note, read it, I could read it? What did Cari have to say, now that she was dead? I almost laughed at the thought, a dead person saying something, anything! My half laugh turned into a sob, and the tears began again.
No, I couldn't cry, I had to read the note.
((kk))
Jay tried to pry it out of my hands, but I pushed him off, "It was directed to me."
Jay tried to pry it out of my hands, but I pushed him off, "It was directed to me."
How could I sound so calm? How could my voice not shake? Cari...Cari was dead.I slowly read the note.
I've never been a good reader, and it was torture with all the big words that Cari used.
Dearest Tom,
I have the strangest feeling that the government knows we have the object. I say object because I know someone may try to intercept this. You and the others must get away as quickly as you can, and I send you this from far away because I have already fled. Run away. Tell the others before you go, but run away. Don't try to be a hero.
I love you,
Cari
My heart ran a mile, They said that Cari was dead, but this note says something else! ((brb-cat litter.))
Cari...she wasn't dead! She was still alive...I had to tell the others that we had to get as far away as possible...but the government was already on our trail! They'd be looking for us...so maybe the best place to stay was here. Later, when it blows over, we could run. I breathed a sigh of relief. Jay tried to pull it out of my hand. I didn't know why, but I didn't want him to have it. I didn't want him to know what it said, I didn't want him to read it.
An excuse... that's what I needed.
There's a cough and I flash my eyes up. The girl called Lily is staring right into my eyes, hers a bright, vibrant green. I immediately look away. Cari's eyes were - are - green."Jay," she says softly, pointedly. "I've helped you for long enough but... I want to know what's going on."
The two boys and other girl sitting around her nod. I take note of their posh clothes. Bitter distaste forms in my mouth. And then i realize that my friends are dressed nice too, their small thin frames disturbingly vibrant under the nice fabric.
"We're not telling you ANYTHING!" Elsie bursts out, standing up, her face blotched and red. Jay calmly drags her back, wrapping her up in his olive colored arms, murmuring into her hair for a moment. Angry tears continue to cascade down her face, her tiny shoulders heaving.
He shoots me a look that says, "Talk to them."
I use my aparaent powers of talking, and force the note into the back of my mind, for pondering another time.
"I'm Tom," I say.
"So we gathered," one boy says, his black bangs swinging into his pale face.
I narrow my eyes. "This is Elsie, and Jay. I don't know what's happened, who you are, or why we're here. I'm positive you won't tell me everything, so instead we'll start with the basics. What are your names?"
((Sorry... I went a bit overboard... haha.))
---------(Police officers)
We were following the group of kids with squad 61. We didnt know why but it was our orders. Gunshots flew past my ear as i looked around for the cause. A boy held a gun to my face and said,"HI. My name is Tom. We have met. You were the guy chasing us and shooting bullets at our backs!"
I stared at him in disbelief. "W-" He cocked the gun. "Say anything and I shoot. You're coming with me."
He grabbed my arm with surprising strength and raised it between my shoulder blades. I didn't mean to, but I cried out nevertheless.
He held the gun to my temple and walked me along. I expected him to go toward the rough part of town, but instead he walked opposite of it. We walked by my house, and I moaned. What would my wife think? Taken down by a scrawny kid. No one was on the streets this part of night, so my hope of witnesses was destroyed.
He brought me toward a particularly posh looking manor and shoved me through the door, where a small girl handcuffed me.
"You killed Joanne." She whispers into my ear, disdain leaking from every syllable.
What had I done to deserve this?
"I dont know wat ur talking about!"They looked at me ,apparently wat i had said made no differance. I thought all hope was lost when i realized i had left my walki-talkie on!" Now u just stay here!" they said, and shoved me into a small closet. Perfect! I thought. I leaned my elbow on the talk button and called for help in a hoarse whisper. "yes captain?" came the reply. Yes! I was Saved! In my excitment i accidently kicked the door, and to my surprise it swung open! I leaped to my feet and stepped out. Suddenly i remembered my training as i realized this was a trap while a loud alarm sang out.
((i'm confuzzled, the police officer's pov?))
The kids were gone, but there was a much more threatening person in front of me.The mayor's son.
"Officer!" he said, shocked.
"I can explain-" I started.
"No need to." He said, eying my handcuffed hands. "I think I know who did this to you."
((hmm.))
"Well go get 'em!" I yelled at him.
He walked up to me, and pulled out a spare key, "Not until I get you out of these, and get some back up."
"Well go get 'em!" I yelled at him.
He walked up to me, and pulled out a spare key, "Not until I get you out of these, and get some back up."
Tom's POVElsie and I walked into the room we had originally been in. Elsie had started a fresh stream of tears for Joanne. I tried to stay strong, and refrained from sobbing as well.
But then we saw Jay. In the corner of the room. On a recliner. But, he wasn't the only person on the recliner. Lily was there too. And they weren't just waiting for us. They were kissing.
Me and Elsie snickered. Jay heard us and looked up, his face covered with lipstick.
Police POVSuddenly, squad 61 broke through the door, swarming through every possibly nook and cranny. They jumped on the mayors son shouting pointless commands at him. "Secure the manor!" they said. "I want every corner of this place searched!" A man came up to me and picked the lock on my handcuffs. "Who are you?"I said. He replied, "I am the sector commander of the state. Congratulations captain. You have just found the hideout of The Kids. You're new title is now: General." 'Wow General' I thought!
"Wait a minute. Just for finding a hideout I skipped two ranks, and now im higher than you?" "Yes sir" he replied. "What are your first orders General?"
*Back to the police pov.*"Um..." I began, blushing. "Find The Kids!" I said, quietly congratulating myself.
*Back to Tom's*
I thought I was the only one who heard it, but when everybody else looked up at another crash, I knew I was wrong.
Jay leapt up and grabbed the bag which held the object. He kissed Lily one final time, then hopped out of the window. Lily looked down. "Jay!" She shouted as he disappeared into the forest bordering their property.
"Come on Elsie!" I shouted, hopping out of the window too. We saw the police break into the room as we melted into the forest.
I rolled my eyes at Jay, whose face was still covered with red.
((Wow they found them fast! lol))((in my version Jay is in the forest but they dont know where.))
Toms POV
We were lost. The forest was so big and we were so little. We walked for 11 miles or so, and we came to a small house on a hill. The tiles on the house crumbled and the, chimney ( a small metal tube) released smoke from inside . The building had two small windows but both had blinds over them. We approched the building and knocked on the door. A small man opened and said "WHat do YOu want!?!" "Excuse me sir" I said. "We were looking for our friend. Have You seen any teenage boys around here?"
"IM looking at one!" he said.
"Yes but-"
"Now go away!"
"BUt si-"
"I said NOW!"
I couldnt take it any more. "We are Being tailed by the police!"
The mans expression changed. He looked at all of us very carefully. "What are your names?" he finally said. "I am Tom. These are my friends, Lily and Elsie." He told us to come in and shut the door. "SO You think those are the police huh? Well you are very well wrong. They may look like police but they are a special detachment of the government."
"How do you know?" I said.
The man replied, "Oh your tale has spread throughout the city. I might ask, did You lose someone in your group?" 'Cari' I thought. "But how did you kno-" I started. JUst then, a young girl walked in.
'Cari'
Cari smiled back, "I'm so glad your safe." She fell into my arms and i wrapped her in a warm bear hug.

I was getting a stich in my side but I knew i couldnt stop! The footsteps get closer and closer and a shot is fired.
"ahhhhhhh!" I scream and duck into an abandoned building.
I find a stairway and follow it up, I hear the door open behind me and the man following up the stairs. Suddenly I rushed out of a door onto the roof, I ran to the edge
And jumped.......
