Not sure the Gargoyle's main location was Germany (USA in my version with Germany, England and Japan as sub locations).....I've always wanted to catch a teacher cheating lol - detention and 5,000 lines of "I am the catcher caught!"

You said if a book had multiple locations you could only pick one, whilst burnt guy is in US the tale in back story features Germany!

Is it actually USA through, I must admit I assumed it was Canada, as the location is never actually mentioned, and that's where the authors from.

Maybe you could count either - or even Germany could be set there in the present I guess.

The author is from Canada so IF I'm not allowed germany I'll have that but if a book is set in different places as the author himself says then how can you limit me to one - particularly when US isn't mentioned in it?

"the country that's never specified" That is Amazon's description of the Gargoyle setting, they go on to say that Marianne describes their story in various settings with germany first!!!!!!!

General rule I'm trying to apply is just one country per book with that country being the place where the most "action" takes place.

Given that USA isn't mentioned specifically, Germany OK.

Well, I'm actually 63% through. It's alright, not feeling very involved in it though.

OMG! Was happily reading along on the commute 7.40am, when fell into a book written by Max. Writing was miniscule and it wouldn't let me enlarge. Was the dtb version tiny - letters were a mm tall.

Read it, and loved it, but Murakami is one of my favourite authors.

I'd echo that, I loved Norwegian wood but recently read 1Q84 which was totally bonkers but worth the effort although ending so so. I've not read any other Murakami but keep thinking I should.

I loved that book! Traumatic though...

I know. I was supposed to be planning R.E. today but couldn't put it down.

It was a tough read and I think I preferred it to The Kite Runner but both were great, think he has a new book out?

Yes, I keep seeing adverts for it. I read it for my book group on Wednesday.

Ian, I found it quite disjointed as a novel, it switches perspective but the chapter ident wasn't that obvious.
