Another excellent book set in Australia that I read 15-20 years ago but haven't been able find again or remember the title or author:
The book begins with a young Australian aborigine girl and her family as she learns about the Dreamtime. There are beautifully described scenes of the mother teaching the girl about the land and their life. The girl is taken from her family and put in a school in Sydney. She tries to adapt but the book ends with main character as an adult leaving city to walkabout.
Would really like to read this one again if anyone recognizes it.
