It's a really good reference tool. It gives some history of Austen and her family and then goes into great detail about her writings. It focuses heavily on the history of their publications and the history of England and English society of the Regency Period. Quotes and interesting facts are spread throughout the pages. The author even discusses some of the film adaptations. It's a lot of fun to read or simply refer to when you are reading an Austen novel.
