Last Night at the Lobster (160 pages)
Last Night at the Lobster (160 pages)Stewart O’Nan has been called “the bard of the working class” and has now crafted a frank and funny yet emotionally resonant tale set within a vivid workaday world seldom seen in contemporary fiction.
Perched in the far corner of a run-down New England mall, The Red Lobster hasn’t been making its numbers and headquarters has pulled the plug. But manager Manny DeLeon still needs to navigate a tricky last shift. With only four shopping days left until Christmas, Manny must convince his near-mutinous staff to hunker down and serve the final onslaught of hungry retirees, lunatics, and holiday office parties. All the while, he’s wondering how to handle the waitress he’s still in love with, his pregnant girlfriend at home, and the perfect present he still needs to buy.
Last Night at the Lobster is a poignant yet redemptive look at what a man does when he discovers that his best might not be good enough.

Hope I've made it in time! I'm thinking something completely different: I'm nominating "The Sharper Your Knife, The Less You Cry" (Love, Laughter and Tears In Paris at the World's Most Famous Cooking School) by Kathleen Flinn! I'm reading it now and loving it! Forget the cooking part and give it a look see!

Here's what Elizabeth Gilbert ("Eat Pray Love") says about it: "I can never get enough of true stories about people who stop in the middle of their life's journey to ask, "What do I really want?" and then have the guts to actually go get it. Kathleen Flinn's tale of chasing her ultimate dream makes for a really lovely book - engaging, intelligent and surprisingly suspenseful."
Here's my nomination: A Tale of Two Cities. Just kidding! Here's my real one:
Here's my nomination: A Tale of Two Cities. Just kidding! Here's my real one:Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson.
My mom LOVED it and I just saw it has a whopping 1338 customer reviews on Amazon.
Please, oh please let's do it?

I'm going to nominate one too. I was thinking something holiday-ish and stumbled on this one. It looks cute and a little odd. http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/77...

SO.....
Nominate only ONE book
I'm only accepting the first 15 nominations. (after that the list gets too long)
I will accept nominations until Friday or until we hit 15 whichever comes first.
Then I will gather them together with a blurb and a link into one thread and create a poll like last time and the voting will go from Saturday until next Tuesday.
Thanks
Tera~
OHHHHH
Please remember this is the book choice for DECEMBER. I know a lot of people will be busy with holiday things so consider nominating a shorter book so it doesn't get lost in hoilday hussle.
