Shug discussion

It is so sad!!! Its a crushy-ewwy-goey-love story. And she ends up with the WRONG guy!

Its my favorite book in The Rebecca Caudill Nominees besides Lightning thief.

I think she is fine with Jake since Mark was just a BLAH. Jake actually got in a FIGHT for Shug when Mark insulted her and everyone knows u insult someone when u like them

I love the ending! I didn't like Mark at all from the start. I knew she would end up liking Jack! Jack had a good heart deep down. I think he just acted mean to Annmarie because he had a bad childhood and his father abused him. But JACK was the one who stood up for her. NOT Mark. See that? Jack was really the nicer one.

She is only a teenager. As she matures her taste in guys will grow. Maybe in the end she and Mark will rediscover each other as young adults. . .

maybe... but he is going out with someone else and she kissed jack sooo they went their seperte ways..

Well I think she felt something in her heart and did what she felt was right. They have a great future ahead of them, so I knew she was going to end up with Jack. It was obvious.

I also felt she was going to end up with Jack. There were just to many indicators that Jack was the right one. Like the fact that Jack was taller than her, they both have an alcoholic parent, Shug ending up as Jack's tutor etc. I think Jack's teasing of Shug was because he was impressed with her and later falling in love with her. Becsause of his family life though he didn't know what to do with his feelings and fearing rejection he opted to tease Shug. Remember Shug is not an easy girl to approach.

As for Mark I don't see him and Shug coming together. Mark was really just a symbol of Shug's childhood and her longing to keep everything the same. I think she wanted more to be Mrs. Findly's daughter in law than Mark's girlfriend. Attaching herself to Jack was symblolic that she was now ready to grow up and face up to the challenges of life. As for Mark I don't think he will ever see Shug as anything but, a sister or cousin.

My own ending is that Jack will live with his father and make peace with him. Then later he will drift back to town and Shug and Jack will be reunited. I am hoping that Jack will turn Shug to Al-Anon so she learns how to deal with her mother.

I liked the book. Too me she was going through a lot, and in the end she at least got someone. I liked mixed up stories, so I liked it.
