Now this author is truly exceptional! Have you guys read Shadow of the Wind? You must! Truly admirable way of writing. Fantastic play of imagination. Great twists and turns. And awesome sense of humor.

HI Jackie, can I ask you to put these on our group bookshelf as well? If you can't, I'll try to get to it later :)
I have read the first 2, & I think he is exceptional as well. Everyone should read at LEAST the first one :)
Thanks for the list Jackie. I have yet to get hold a copy of the last two titles. Have you read them? I loved the first three. Shadow of the Wind being at the top of the list. Such a classic! A classic written in the modern times. Imagine, 2004!! Am sure it would withstand the test of time.

The books would speak for themselves. You have to experience it. Cheers! =)

I'm really glad to see Carlos here. I've only read "The Angel's Game" at this point, but I thought it was fantastic! I know it's sort of a spiritual successor to "Shadow of the Wind", but I've yet to read that. I did recently purchase "The Prince of Mist" and "The Midnight Palace" on my Nook Color so I definitely look forward to reading those soon!
I have read the first two and look forward to more. The first one has stayed with me a long time. :)

Better grab a copy of the Shadow. It's best to read that after Angel's Game. =) Enjoy!
Shadow of the Wind is one of my favorite books. It's the one that I cart from home to home when we move. Reread too many times! So glad he is on here. I just picked up The Angel's Game, so I hope it's as good :)

But there are some reviews that gave it a low rate because it was rated compared to Shadow of the Wind. I suggest that as you go through it, do not compare and contrast it with Shadow. It might just spoil the ride. I loved it too and just like in persons, there are no two books that would be exactly the same. =) Have fun!
I am reading Shadow Of The Wind right now. One of these days, I am going to be late going back to work because I get so engrossed in the book at lunch. I love books about books. Carlos Ruiz Zafron wrote, "As it unfolded, the structure of the story reminded me of one of those Russian dolls that contain innumerable even-smaller dolls within. Step by step, the narrative split into a thousand stories, as if it had entered a gallery of mirrors, its identity fragmented into endless reflections. The minutes and hours glided by as in a dream. When the cathedral bells tolled midnight, I barely heard them. Under the warm light cast by the reading lamp, I was plunged into a new world of images and sensations, peopled by characters who seem as real to me as my room. Page after page I let the spell of the story and its world take me over, until the breath of dawn touched my window and my tired eyes slid over the last page. I lay in the bluish half-light with the book on my chest and listened to the murmur of the sleeping city.My eyes began to close, but I did not want to lose the story's spell or bid farewell to its characters yet."I hope you are all reading something as great as that.
I read the "Shadow of the Wind" and it was one of the most fantastic books that i've read. You can see my opinion about the book on my blog:

Carlos Ruiz Zafr..."Hi, Kate! I know exactly how that "I-am-going-to-be-late-because-of-this-book" feels! =) The rest of the book will unfold very fast. When I was reading it, I was torn between not wanting to put the book down and wanting to pause it so I prolong it being with me. That's how much this book captivated me. It is definitely worth going back to several times. Oh! And i had lots of sticky notes by my side to write all the quotable quotes. Just so many of them!
