I have always thought about what makes the perfect parent: strictness vs. easy going, curfews vs. letting the child do what they want, letting the child be independent or dependent, doing the child's homework so that they do well or letting the child figure it out for themselves. Apparently, according to Freakonomics,it does not matter what you do for your child but who you are and what you have done for yourself. I suppose this theory could be true, but I do believe that if a parent has a child go to tutoring, they will get better grades, right? How could this not be true? Or how bout if a parent gets their child involved in sports and their child gets a sports scholarship? Wouldnt that have never happened if they didnt get their child involved? I just have a hard time agreeing with Levitt and Dubner on this one.
