No, that's happened to me as well. I'm at work so I won't get near this for a few more hours. Lol, I just logged into librarything and it appears I've won a copy.

Also.. (spoiler if you haven't made it to ch. 3)*******Does anyone else think that the same Fitz whatever woman that attempted to blackmail Kitty is the same as the whore that shows up volunteering her services to Harris? (I'm forgetting names already. Sorry) I am thinking they are the same woman for some reason.. ? Does anyone else think that? The name is the same, but that was a common name back then.. the Fitz whatever. ******************
I am intrigued the most by Kitty. What is everyone else's thoughts so far?

I only made it about 40 pages before nodding off to sleep. I do like the writing, but still getting a handle on the characters. Thanks for the note about the list in the back, I hate it when they put it there and don't tell you.
I think you did fine on the spoiler tag. You can also see on the upper right hand side of the comment box where is says (some html is ok). Click that and find the spoiler tag code. Copy, paste and click in the center of those two commands and put your comments in there.
It looks like the other books Tillyard has written are NF and this is her first novel.

I'm on page 73, will read a bit further but I am very tired. He does look handsome in that uniform, but very arrogant at the same time.
I agree. BTW, I just stumbled across a long, but interesting video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwNbnR...

I still can't say whether I'm enjoying it or not. The writing is lovely, but I've not yet been drawn into the story iself. Weekends are better for *busy* novels than the work week.
Another point is that we Yanks aren't as up to snuff on this bit of history as the Brits are, and I'm assuming you folks in OZ get some background in history class. British history doesn't get much attention in US public schools, at least it didn't in the 70's. I'd probably be very lost if I hadn't read the Marianne books and picked up more background on Napoleon.
I'm sticking with it, no worries. I should make some real progress later today once I walk away from the PC, get to the gym and settle down with the book.

Regarding British history.. I didn't get any of it in my school years and that was the 80s and 90s. Nothing except the American Revolution.
I just finished part one and still have no idea what is going on. Moving forward...
I can't get a handle on Harriet at all, nor her husband. I was nodding off last night, but did I read correctly that (view spoiler)

Well I'm glad it wasn't James who did that. As mentioned in the previous thread I'm not doing well with it either.
