I'm glad that Vinai went back and took Berlinski to Dan Loi. The fate of all of the characters were wrapped up nicely. Even the consistency of Farts-A-Alot and his wife was comforting.

I'm sure it brought closure to both of the men. (Oh, and to me too.)

It was sad to witness the changes, but now I know that I will never try to go there.

After all of her years of research and involvement in Dyalo culture, Martiya never thought that she belonged.

Ironically she posthumously published two papers about the cultures of a different place, where she actually felt she did belong! Prison.

It is ironic, isn't it?

So much for all my thoughts that there must be a logical explanation for her killing David, but there really wasn't. Just her obsessive need to protect the Dyalo from that the inevitable changes that come with exposure to "civilization" - something I hate to see... when I see another few acres of forested land leveled to make room for some condos I say: "Bloody urban sprawl!"
