Sandra (mrsshorty) | 4 comments Not quite as gritty as some of the other authors.....but cracking good Icelandic crime all the same

Naomi (nblackburn) | 932 comments Thanks Sandra! I will have to check her out.

message 3: by Naomi, the Sanity Check (new)

Naomi (nblackburn) | 932 comments Which book(s) of hers have been released yet? I am only seeing two that haven't been released.

message 4: by Sandra (new)

Sandra (mrsshorty) | 4 comments to my knowledge she has only written 4 books to date (in order)
Last rituals
My soul to take
Ashes to dust
The day is dark

they have all been released and translated into English

Anna (aetm) | 192 comments I've only read Last Rituals of those, and I'm not sure I'd put it in for the noir category... (then again, I like my noir proper noir like Nesbø).
It seemed like a bake of Bridget Jones (Thóra) with a bunch of clones of Eva Lind characters in a Dan Brown thing located in Iceland. Interesting pieces of history and locations though.

Naomi (nblackburn) | 932 comments I am trying to read My Soul to Take but stuff keeps getting in the way!

message 7: by Anna, the Enabler (new)

Anna (aetm) | 192 comments I'll wait to see what you think of that one, Naomi.
If it's less bridgetjonesy, I might try it. But with all the bridget stuff in it, I'll pass.

message 8: by Naomi, the Sanity Check (new)

Naomi (nblackburn) | 932 comments I couldn't get through it Anna. I got about 120 pages in and it couldn't keep my interest to save my life. I chose TV over reading a book and that isn't like me.

message 9: by Anna, the Enabler (new)

Anna (aetm) | 192 comments Ok so it's not just me. I could finish one of those bridgetjonesy books, and for 3/4 of the book, I tried to imagine a fat Renee Zellweger doing the role of Thóra. That was the part of the humor I could get from the book (and needed to finish it).
Oh well, at least I tried... I guess it'll take a different type of reader than many of us here to like it.

message 10: by Naomi, the Sanity Check (new)

Naomi (nblackburn) | 932 comments Wow..I didn't think of it that way. My next one is the stonecutter..I probably won't make it through that one either cuz I just don't like Camilla Läckberg, as a writter..too bridgetjonsey, as you like to say.

message 11: by Anna, the Enabler (new)

Anna (aetm) | 192 comments Yea, Läckberg isn't noir - it's gris. Noirish sorta romance...
