I was thinking author; location; maybe themes (financial, murder etc)...

Like, like Harry Bosch - you'll probably like Harry Hole and so on.
Even when noir defines some books (and excludes the cozies), it still often seems too wide as a genre. But what I'd define as something of a specific style would not necessarily be the same as what the others would define the same book as. Which is why I love the discussions for finding new favorite authors...
Like, "I'm running out of Nesbø and Connelly to read. Suggest me something else at least as twisted".


And hey, I'm very open to suggestions right now. I'm reading a non-murder thing and it's driving me nuts (taken a week already... uncommon). Ideally something I already have, or can grab from the library's audiobook selection... since moving on the end of the week, I feel like I NEED some proper noir until then while cleaning and packing and whatnot...
