Dee (austhokie) | 438 comments hi Diane - I saw your post our group reads - was wondering if maybe doing 2 a month - one US state and one country might work

That's exactly what I was thinking!

Arda (arda_nl) | 37 comments No suggestion, just want to say the groups looks amazing! Just took a look at the books per country and it probably took you a long time to all the books the way you did. It looks great! thanks for your effort for this challenge/group!

Thank you! I've had a lot of fun and have learned a lot while doing it!

Dee (austhokie) | 438 comments I love how we have lists of books from all the countries...would it be possible to just have a thread that says, these countries are in this region - to make it easier for organizing our threads?

I will post a list under the "Good to Know" folder when I get home from work.

Diane | 13052 comments This thread wasn't showing up. Just posting to try to get it to show up again.

Dee (austhokie) | 438 comments ok, I knew i wasn't going insane and that we had a thread somewhere...lol!

Diane | 13052 comments Apparently topics disappear from view if no comments are made for a while. Antarctica has "disappeared" as well.

Her Royal Orangeness (onlyorangery) Would it be possible to designate on the Readerboard those who are doing the Trekker option, like maybe with a star by their name? I'm curious who's trying this insanity besides me. :)

That's a good idea. Now to figure out who they are...

Carey (carey7) | 2 comments Hi...I'm new to the group after coming across your amazing list of Ethiopian books. (Two of my children are Ethiopian.) Before kids, I traveled a lot and have always loved reading books that take place around the world.
Do you have a section about books that take place in multiple locations and/or are about the travel experience like Travels with Charley or Give Me the World?
Thanks, Carey

Hi, Carey! Welcome to the group! I have actually been thinking about that quite a bit and do want to put that category in. I have been coming across a lot of titles devoted to world travel that are hard to put into any one place. They do need their own "home" here, since they are an important part of world reading. I also want to start a folder on the immigrant experience as well. Thanks so much for the great suggestion!

Her Royal Orangeness (onlyorangery) Diane wrote: "That's a good idea."

I just noticed that you've added the stars to the Readerboard. Thankies! :)

It already is. It may be "buried" under some of the other European countries. I will bump it up.

AJ (ame-less) | 16 comments For those using the GoodReader apps it would be helpful to have the link to the poll posted someplace easier to find. I kept finding the thread for the nominations for the following month, but had to go to the website or the Site Map post to find the voting for next month.

I will put a link in the group announcements again starting next month.

AJ (ame-less) | 16 comments I noticed Alyson commented on not seeing the march books that were selected. I think third could be an app vs website problem too as i can't see the "upcoming books" or group is reading sections i can on the website. And I'm checking in almost everyday. My other suggestion is you're doing too much work! The other group I'm active in has 4 moderators-you need to recruit :-)

Lol, you may be right. ;) Unfortunately, I am not familiar with the GR apps. I always have used the full web version when accessing from my phone. A good forum for technical issues is the Goodreads Feedbak group: http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/1... . GR is very receptive to member feedback and concerns and work hard to resolve issues.

Sterling Gate Books (sterlinggatebooks) | 19 comments For those into series, Goodreads ‘Best Trilogies/Book Series EVER!’ list is definitely worth a look. View top 100 books. The best of Dan Brown, Stieg Larsson, Stephenie Meyer, Richelle Mead and more…

Megan | 12 comments Good morning all,

I'm new to the group and wasn't sure where to post this question so I apologize if it's in the wrong place! I'm really enjoying the group and the wealth of knowledge that's here about books. I'm working on my challenge for 2014.
How do we add the link to the book in our post? I've noticed most of the members have the good reads link and that made it very easy for me to add books to my list. Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you,
Megan

On the commento box there is "add book/author", click on it, write the title of the book, click search and when you find the right edition you must click "add". You can also choose if you want to add only the title or the cover.

message 24: by T.K. (new)

T.K. Naliaka Would you be interested in adding regions to the African countries list? With so much cross-border activity, commerce and traveling it's quite typical in Africa to speak of a collection of countries such as East Africa or West Africa, the Magreb, the Sahel or Southern Africa. Each well-known regional grouping includes a least four countries, so in some cases, it'd be easier listing certain books under those categories instead of four or five individual countries. If the action of a book ranged over Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania, Zanzibar, even South Sudan, then East Africa would be a useful heading. The Sahel climatic zone comprises about 8 countries, so that would be simpler than listing the same book under 8 different countries.

message 25: by Virginia (new)

Virginia Do you have a category for Mysteries Around the World or Mysteries set in the 50 US states?

message 26: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (amaflynn) | 24 comments Hi, I have a question. How do you choose the countries we read for each month. I tried to find this information in the about the group area. Thank you, Great group!

Jovan (iovan) | 181 comments As I was coming from our fortress with the dog, sun, rain and rainbow, but no snow, I came up of idea for city challenge. The person‚s name or surname (for me Jovan) or the name of your pet (for me Danny), so you must read five books with cities beginning on the letters of your name (for me Johannesburg, Oslo, Vancouver, Amsterdam,NYC, for example) in five months as there is so many letters in my name. Alternatively, one could read a book of some geographical term, lake, river, sea instead of city.
