Hi Barbara, I've never heard of Mr. Dalloway: A Novella. I just looked it up and it is about Clarissa's husband in one day. I am now curious and wonder whether the author had the ability to handle such grand task! How very interesting!
Actually, I am tempted to buy and read the novel. When I saw it at Barnes & Nobel I didn't have much time to really look at the book, but I did flip through it for a few seconds and somewhere within the actual novel I saw an invitation to a party celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Mr. & Mrs. Dalloway (I believe it was the 30th anniversary), and I did think to myself "another novel about a party at the Dalloways???" but I am definitely curious enough to buy and read the book at some point. Although, if I don't read it within the next few months I may never read it -- Mrs. Dalloway is still fresh enough in my mind, and once it's not as fresh in my mind anymore, I may lose interest in reading Mr. Dalloway: A NovellaIf I do pick up a copy and read it, I will definitely let you know whether or not I think the rest of you would enjoy it.
Lol! Satia, I am curious only because Mrs. Dalloway was written by a woman author about a day in a life of a woman. We read about her point of view, but as far as clarification of each character goes, Mr. Dalloway was the vaguest one. We only know he likes hunting and nature, a sporty man; and basic family background. And that's about it. No string of consciousness or thoughts were ever written about Mr. Dalloway, and yet he is the husband of Mrs. Dalloway! Of course it depends on the writer of Mr. Dalloway to prove whether the novella is derivative or not, and my guess right now is he didn't pull it off, I mean, it is Virginia Woolf after all. I am curious about it but not enough to purchase it, a sample of one chapter can probably tell its worthiness.
Lol! I as well, would love to hear from someone in the group about Mr. Dalloway. Barbara, I do hope you pick up a copy and let us know what you think!
OK Ladies!!! I'll try to get to Barnes & Noble within the next few days and I just might pick up a copy of Mr. Dalloway (I'm going to browse through it a bit more, just to make sure it's worth it -- but Satia and Serena, you will be the first to know!!!)By the way, have any decisions been made for the October book???? (I hope it's not Ulysses!!! I'm dying to read it, but there's no way I'll have time to read a book like this in October. Maybe if we can put it off until February or after, I may even be able to volunteer to be the moderator!!!) (That's if you think I can handle the job!!!!)

I didn't really have much time to look through it, or to jot down the author's name, but this is the only book called "Mr. Dalloway" that I could find here on goodreads --
Have any of you heard anything about this book? I'm guessing that it's about Clarissa's husband's point of view. Seems like a clever idea for a novel or novella.
