I really liked Mike Lupica's The Batboy, released in 2010. It blends some realistic baseball action and deeper philosophy about the game with believable, poignant family drama, tying it all together into a good story. It makes me curious to read more of what Mike Lupica has to offer.
Isn't he like famous for writing books about baseball? Does he write books other than baseball ones?
Mike Lupica is an ESPN sports personality and longtime sports columnist, so what he writes about are mostly, but not entirely, themes related to sports. He's not limited to baseball, though; several of his novels are about football or basketball.
